  Position Summary:Are you looking to advance your career and gain administrative experience in a diverse and inclusive environment? The University of Alaska Anchorage School of Social Work (SSW) is growing and recruiting for a full-time program support specialist. This position will support staff, students and faculty in advancing research, teaching, and service in addressing elevated social issues in the State of Alaska.

  As a program support specialist, you will be responsible for helping keep our programs running smoothly. This includes serving as the first point of contact for students, staff, faculty and the community as well as assisting practicum coordinators in managing student files. Additionally, you will help manage the clerical and administrative needs of the department, send out communication in the form of newsletters, fliers and event schedules, and verify materials for completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures.

  To thrive in this role, a candidate must have the ability to move back and forth between independent work and team projects. Strong written and verbal communication is essential as this role is the first point of contact between the School and the community and is responsible for scheduling meetings, coordinating activities and fielding questions via phone and email. Tracking and organization of data is another key component, as well as prioritizing projects and maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies, so candidates should have a keen eye for details and meticulous record keeping.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Three years in administrative support role. Experience in general office procedures, practice and use of standard equipment and software applications.

  Position Details:

  This position is located on the Anchorage campus. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package (https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php) . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule (https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/files/fy24_staff_salary_grid.pdf) , Grade 77, based on education and experience.
