Safety Specialist | HIRING IMMEDIATELY | Mooresville, NC
Available Shift:
The Safety Specialist plays a key role in championing our safety culture. This person spends a lot of time on the manufacturing floor with a focus on our safety and health injury prevention programs, compliance improvements, and enhanced employee engagement programs. This position is primarily Monday through Friday , but schedule will vary depending upon plant needs, including possibly weekends and holidays. This position is an hourly position reporting directly to the Safety Manager.

Responsibilities
Safety
Teach and coach team members the Pactiv Evergreen safety culture and workplace standards
Remain aware of surroundings and obtain knowledge of all required PPE by job and task
Responsible for following all required safety procedures
Keep work area clean and organized
Report any safety concern, risk, hazard, near miss, or injury immediately to the appropriate supervision on shift
Partner with the Safety Manager to investigate suggestions, concerns, incidents, near miss events, etc.
Quality
Assist with education of employees on GMP requirements and standards
Follow all GMP requirements
Report any concerns or findings immediately to the appropriate staff
Productivity
Active participant on location health and safety projects.
Communicate team projects to peers and location leaders.
Conduct (when appropriate) Safety Training (Monthly, Refresher, Initial, etc.) for peers, new hires, visitors, and vendors.
Conduct the Environmental Health and Safety portion of new hire orientation as needed.
Audit On-The-Job Training for gaps. Identify and help correct gaps identified in the On-The-Job Training programs.
Participate in Tier I and Tier II Sessions. The safety coordinator will have responsibilities for safety updates, KPIs, and safety related follow-ups identified during the sessions.
Update Safety Trackers (Daily, Weekly, and Monthly)
Enter data into Gensuite.
Analyze data generated by existing programs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Follow-up on Safety Flashes/Alerts from other locations.
Honor the site-specific standard work activities assigned to the Site Safety Coordinator
Other tasks aligned with the compliance, injury prevention, and employee engagement initiatives.
Participate on BU Safety calls and lead for the location in the absence of the EHS Manager.
Engage workforce to raise awareness of health and safety policies, risks, and controls.
Other duties as required by the plant.

Must be able to communicate in an engaging way with staff at all levels in the organization.

Passionate about safety as it relates to employee engagements, compliance, and injury prevention.
Strong attendance record is required.
Ability to manage worklist and drive projects to closure.
Willing to support all facility programs regardless of plant department.
Support plant leadership in incident and case management.
Baseline knowledge of programs such as Lockout Tagout, PPE, Machine Guarding, and Forklift Safety. etc.
Basic Microsoft skills (outlook, power point, word, etc).
Competent in the use of a calculator and ruler/tape measure.
Proficient in the English Language (read, write, talk).
Capable of communicating in front of large groups and interacting with peers, site leaders.
Reliable/Dependable as it relates to completing work assignments.
Accomplished in coaching peers. Willingness to coach leaders.
Experience working in an industrial/manufacturing/warehouse environment.
Communication & conflict resolution skills.
