Your Day-to-Day:In this position, a Safety Analysis Solutions Engineercan expect to be responsible to manage applicable products through the product lifecycle (planning, development, introduction, growth, maturity, decline/exit). This requires interfaces among customer, technical, and financial organizations. The success of the product is dependent upon establishing, maintaining, and executing a product strategy based upon market intelligence, voice of the customer, and performance.
Develop and support the generation and implementation of the Safety Analysis product/strategic plan which will require translation into the FH&ES portfolio plan.Establish a basic technical understanding of Safety Analysis productsForecast opportunities (financials and resource demand) and incorporate "breakthrough" technologies and cost improvement objectives.Drive innovative and strategic solutions to create customer value and satisfy industry regulatory needs. Identify unmet customer needs through appropriate market channels and capture planning.Grow Safety Analysis business with Fuel Business Managers. This will require development of relationships with customers, the regulator where necessary, and Westinghouse internal organizations in order to formulate products and approaches to increase backlog.Create, maintain, and implement specific strategic action plans including working with the applicable engineering groups and other parts of the organization to ensure that actions are completed, and WAVE initiatives are updated accordingly.Create and maintain product related databasesRecommend product development areas and support innovation/product development strategies and meetings including innovation stage gates and technical roadmaps. Develop business cases to support/justify innovation investments. Provide engineering with suggested pricing so as to determine if innovation idea has a positive return on investment.
Act as the primary FH&ES contact for Safety Analysis proposals leading product through the offer phase.Apply product line vision to each offer and ensure the technical description, the estimates, and the terms and conditions meet associated product line expectations and are aligned with the product/strategic plan. This includes but is not limited to:Incorporation of lesson learned to the offers.Confirmation to ensure deliverables and schedules are achievable.Interface closely with the Business, Global Account Team, Marketing, functional managers/leads regarding offers and contract changes.Generation, distribution, and compilation of Engineering Impact Evaluation Sheets (EIESs)Work with engineering and the Customer to ensure upfront alignment on technical description to set direction for offer and ultimately project.Actively develop the monthly financial forecasts; including the update of quotes and opportunities database and attendance at commercial planning and execution meetings. Support twice a month review of all opportunities to review changes, expected award dates and probability changes.
Monitor backlog projects through the execution phase to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas for learning as it relates to the product plan and future product offerings.Assess monthly financial variance reports and take action with project management team to understand deltas and potential opportunities / challenges on project performancePrepare, attend, and take necessary action s) in weekly financial touchpoints to assess performance throughout the month in addition to formal mid-month financial forecasting/performance meetings.This position will require candidates to also:Facilitate meetings and generate PowerPoint presentations for solution management, engineering, Business and Global Account Team product presentations (as needed).Work closely with other Business Unit Segments to ensure alignment on overlapping products and opportunities.Act as the project manager for small offers or emergent issues including development of the technical description and Offer Input approvals so as to allow engineering to focus on task at hand.
Who You Are:As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:Bachelor's degree in engineering/related technical discipline or equivalent. Minimum of six years technical or customer-oriented experience. Previous customer-oriented experience and/or product line/marketing experience highly desirable. Preferred knowledge of NSSS systems, business unit products, services, commercial operations, financial planning and setting strategic objectives.Must support a culture that values safety, personalized customer service and human performance fundamentals. Candidates must have strong oral and written skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentCandidates will be required to:Take abstract concepts and divergent information and skillfully present data in a clear, concise manner.Collaborate with various levels within the organization and across business segment boundaries.Understand and ensure compliance with the offer/marketing process (Technical descriptions, estimates, risk assessment worksheets, SOPAR/CRM reports, etc.).Navigate SAP for review of data and run various reports. Must be able to sort, manipulate and analyze information from various reporting formats.
