As a Right of Way Specialist at Eversource Energy, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and ensuring the optimal use of Eversource's rights of way. This position is central to monitoring and managing the use of land in line with Eversource's Land Management policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will include conducting periodic reviews of system rights of way to guarantee their compatible usage as per established agreements with third parties. Additionally, you will engage in extensive research concerning titles, property appraisals, external registries, and gathering information from Town Halls.
This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.
Essential Functions
Proactively identify, prioritize, negotiate, and resolve encroachment, trespass, and land use conflicts within Eversource's rights of way.Collaborate with the legal department to accurately interpret property rights and agreements.Conduct comprehensive research including title abstracts, deeds, and other relevant data to determine property boundaries and rights.Coordinate work activities in alignment with system projects, ensuring efficient support and integration.Conduct rights assessments, identify discrepancies in records, gaps in rights, and establish project permit requirements.Function as the Subject Matter Expert for ROW in system projects, providing essential guidance and expertise.Prepare and draft licenses, permits, easements, Joint Use Agreements (JUAs), and sketch plans as directed.Formulate easements, leases, deeds, and other agreements, as necessary.Ensure diligent maintenance and updating of the Company’s records/database.Perform title research, coordinate property appraisals, and oversee their reviews.Provide technical support and assistance to operational areas in relation to ROW land management.Engage in property rights negotiations for acquisition and disposition as required.Offer comprehensive project support for the Company’s capital and maintenance projects, including route analysis, compiling abutter’s lists, and facilitating permitting support.Manage vendor relationships and performance as needed.Analyze Land Use Notifications to assess impacts on the system.Preserve ROW Property Records, Infrastructure, and Land Assets.Qualifications
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Working knowledge of Right of Way Land Management principles and practices.Must be able to locate and interpret registry land records, survey plans and engineering R/W plans.Must have effective communication skills, negotiation skills and sound judgement.Must be able to work collaboratively as well as independently.Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.Experience :
Three (3) plus years’ experience in Right of Way Land Management, Property Management or Real Estate LawLicenses & Certifications:
Must have a valid driver’s license.Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH, as necessary.Work in both office and field settings including inspections in the Transmission and Distribution Right of Way corridors and construction sites on foot, by vehicle and/ or helicopter.This job requires meetings with abutters and landowners in the field and trips to the registry and Municipal offices.This work may require attendance to occasional night meetings at various locations as requested or assigned.Compensation and Benefits:
