JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Purpose Dr. Cara Mack'slaboratory focuses on the role of the immune system in bile duct injury,with a focus on the pathogenesis of biliary atresia and primarysclerosing cholangitis. Investigations utilize human biospecimens andmouse models. Under general supervision, the research technologistprovides support for Dr. Mack's research through implementation ofprojects, maintenance and communication of data, and execution oflaboratory experiments. Primary Functions Carry out experimental designsfor sponsored research projects and perform routine experiments. Thisincludes experiments with the mouse model of biliary atresia, as well asexperiments with human samples. Record and compile accurate records inan organized fashion and communicate summaries of experimental results.Assist with the evaluation, interpretation and assessment ofexperimental data and quality control of assays. Participate in meetingswith principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpretthe validity of data as needed. Carry out assigned duties for orderingand maintaining supply of inventories. Operate, calibrate and performroutine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research. Performcell culture, molecular biology immunology techniques Oversee dailylab operation in the absence of the supervisor or PrincipalInvestigator. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge - Skills -Abilities Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation,and records management. Data utilization, complex problem solving,critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills. PreferredSchedule: Full-time role with expectations for coverage during corebusiness hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodateclinical needs.
