A Place to Be Proud.ResponsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Performs research experiments independently or semi-independently in accordance with protocols approved by the principal investigator. Such experiments may involve the use of laboratory animals or human subjects any may require evening and/or weekend duties.2. Qualified individuals will be expected to perform all histology related work. Experimental duties include but not limited to histology sample preparation, fixation, dehydration, embedding, sectioning (paraffin sectioning and cryosectioning), common histology staining such as H&E, Trichrome and Alcian Blue, Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence staining, RNA in situ hybridization staining including RNascope. Histology samples are quite diversified, including murine embryos, and various murine adult organs. Other duties include but are not limited to mouse genotyping, maintenance of laboratory bacterial culture stocks, mammalian cell culture stocks, DNA Plasmid stocks, laboratory equipment and general lab supplies, and place lab orders.3. Ensures accuracy of laboratory analytical procedures as required by specific research projects.4. Collects and controls experimental data and patient information; and maintains accurate daily logs of experiments including methods, results, and conclusions.5. Interprets the results of data analyses with input from the principal investigator.6. Assists the principal investigator in the preparation of scientific publications and grant proposals.7. Make recommendations about refinement and/or replacement of laboratory analytical procedures. Implements such refinements or new procedures with input from the principal investigator.8. Orders supplies needed to conduct research; maintains inventory of equipment and supplies; and assures that research equipment is in good working order.9. Instructs other laboratory workers and students in standard methods, practices, procedures, and equipment operations.10. Maintains a clean working area and p
