Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is an 8-10-bed unit dedicated toproviding personalized and compassionate attention throughout more severeillnesses and injuries. Pediatric critical care nurses are trained andequipped to treat patients with severe infections, diabetes, andrespiratory diseases like pneumonia, bronchiolitis and asthma of all degreesof severity, including ventilated patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is1:2. Denver Health is designated as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center bythe American College of Surgeons.
Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, assists in developing and implementing initialtraining, future training and care team development programs for assignedareas. Conducts ongoing education for the team and is responsible for assuringthe competency of the professional nurse and unlicensed personnel in thoseassigned areas. Evidence of competency is reviewed and documented at leastannually and is based upon the most recent evidence and best practices. Leadthe departments evidences base orientation program.Adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professionalnursing practice / process and performance, and the ANA Code of Ethics(2015)* to provide care to all healthcare consumers. Applies criticalthinking, evidence-based practices and competence to collaborate with thehealth care team to promote excellence in healthcare consumer safety andquality outcomes. Bachelor's Degree Nursing RequiredWork Experience:
