Primary Job Purpose
The Assistant Actuarial Analyst performs technical, analytical,reporting and support functions, collaborating with peers andmanagement, to help the Cambia Actuarial and Healthcare Informaticsdepartments and the company meet market and financial goals.
The Cost of Care Analytics team, within Healthcare Informatics, supportsCambia\'s Healthcare Services and Health Plan Operations departments incontrolling costs and improving the quality of care by evaluating theimpact of different policies & programs. The team provides consultingfor key business decisions, focusing on cost containment opportunityassessment and reporting to support cost stewardship decisions andactuarial assumption development.
Cambia Actuarial and Healthcare Informatics includes over 100 actuaries,consultants, data analysts and statisticians who provide pricing,financial and statistical projections and analysis, risk evaluation,research, and custom reporting for Cambia\'s health plans and customersin Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington and their customers. We ensure ourproducts are appropriately priced, our financial positions areappropriately stated and projected, and our leaders and customers areappropriately informed to make strategic decisions, reflecting theexpected risk.
General Functions and Outcomes
Acquiring skills in Microsoft Office Suite, health plan data, andcoding for model development and data queries.Creates, maintains, updates and reviews established data queries andmodels; may recommend methodology or process improvements.Accurately prepares, updates and reviews regular work products,including project code, analytic models, data visualizations, andassociated documentation; actively collaborates with peers.Assembles deliverables for customers and drafts responses tocustomer questions.Performs peer review of technical work products and acceptancetesting of new reports, programs, and models, following departmentand team quality assurance standards.Meets established project deadlines; informs manager of workprogress, new requests, and conflicts.Regular progress on passing actuarial exams to achieve actuarialcredentials (ASA, MAAA).Effectively manages work and study time; contributes to owndevelopment plan.Minimum Requirements
Competencies and Knowledge:
Passed at least one Society of Actuaries (SOA) exam; preferablycompleted SOA VEE requirements.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; displayscuriosity.Business sense, including finance, accounting, economics,statistics, and risk management principles.Effective verbal and written communications.Ability to work independently and in teams, as appropriate.Demonstrated technology proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite andcoding (e.g., SQL, SAS, Alteryx).Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above:
The Assistant Actuarial Analyst would have a bachelor\'s degree inmathematics, actuarial science, statistics, economics, computer scienceor related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education andexperience.

The expected hiring range for an Assistant Actuarial Analyst is\$73,000 - \$99,000 depending on skills, experience, education, andtraining; relevant licensure / certifications; performance history; andwork location. The bonus target for this position is 10%.The currentfull sal ry range for this role is \$68,500 - \$112,000/year.
