Responsibilities This position falls under the Semper Fit Division of MCCS and reports directly to the Youth Sports Supervisor of the Athletics Department. The purpose of this position is to assist the Youth Sports Supervisor in the overall planning, coordinating, and execution of the Youth Sports Program. MAJOR DUTIES: The majority of this person's time will be spent assisting the Youth Sports Supervisor in the planning, organizing, coordinating and directing a comprehensive youth fitness/sports program. The youth sports program may include seasonal leagues, sports camps & clinics, and special events. Assists in organizing the recruiting, training, and supervision of volunteers critical to the execution of the Youth Sports program. Ensures all volunteer coaches have completed the required background checks prior to performing coaching duties. Monitors coaches to ensure compliance with the National Youth Sports Coaches (NYSC) policies and guidelines. Conducts clinics or seminars to train athletes, coaches and officials in related sports programs. Utilizes a planning process to ensure all administrative, logistical, marketing, ORM, fiscal, venue, and other critical event planning components are accounted for in each program, sport or event offered. Ensures all playing facilities and surfaces are properly reserved for team practices and games, maintained, safe, and ready for play and are prepared in accordance with the rules and regulations of the sport and league. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Youth Sports Supervisor in the preparation of supporting data for new plans and budget requirement recommendations. Assists the Youth Sports Supervisor in the review of specific cost center accounts within the Youth Sports Department ensuring accuracy in monthly reporting and takes action to correct errors. Adheres to budgetary guidance and purchasing policies in support of the program. Required to obtain a NAF purchasing credit card to make authorized purchases in support of the Youth Sports Department. Submits e-PRs in support of events, officiating and photography contracts and all other large scale purchases as needed. Monitors a very extensive equipment issue program and applies reasonable control measures to maximize usage of supplies and equipment. Conducts inventories of resources (uniforms, equipment, supplies) and ensures adequate storage, maintenance, and serviceability of equipment. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as liaison with other military services, organizations, and local community. WORKING CONDITIONS: Applicants will work all shifts to include nights and weekends and indoors and outdoors in support of the program. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS (MCCS funded): Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a CPR and first aid certification within the first three months of employment. Must be able to complete the National Youth Sports Coaches clinic-training program and maintain current instructor training status. May be required to obtain a Contracting Officers' Representative or "COR" certification. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have one year experience that demonstrates knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of youth sports program operations. Must have a minimum of two years' experience in a variety of clerical duties such as typing, filing, record keeping, etc. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills. Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to successfully plan, organize and execute a youth sports league and special events. Applicants must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, both inside and outside the organization. Must be able to work with little supervision. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age.
