Summary/Objective

　　This position leads a team of employees in conducting product research and development for the company within the defined Company’s Innovation Strategy framework while following quality and cost standards and time deadlines. This includes investigating technology development, concept development, and new product development, among other areas. In addition, the R & D Manager and development teams work to improve existing products. They identify areas for improvement, make recommendations to the organizations' leaders and implement approved product modifications.

　　Analyze data and draws conclusions

　　Develop and execute a product development strategy that aligns with our business goals and objectives

　　Work effectively with peers, subordinates, and superiors across multiple departments to accomplish R & D objectives.

　　Write research reports and summaries.

　　Ensure that program objectives are determined and met, logistics are effectively coordinated, and budgets are adhered to

　　Provide technical oversight and expertise as required

　　Plan and implement the development of new processes in areas of research

　　Frequent communication with other Groupe Savencia subsidiaries and support departments, including Soredab and transversal Poles

　　Improving existing products by identifying areas for improvement, making recommendations, and implementing approved product modifications.

　　Supervisory Responsibility

　　This position manages all department employees and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of employees. R & D Manager at the Kolb Lena location currently has no direct reports.

　　Work Environment

　　While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinet. Manager may also work in the test kitchen, pilot plant, and production floor.

　　Physical Demands

　　The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

　　R & D Manager in Kolb-Lena must be able to lift 50# and work in a cheese manufacturing environment. This includes vat work, curing work, and inventory (cooler) work.

　　Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

　　This is a full-time position. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; days and hours may vary depending on the business needs.

　　Travel

　　Minor domestic and international travel is required for this position approximately 10% of the time.

　　Required Education and Experience

　　Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field

　　Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English

　　Preferred Education and Experience

　　Master’s degree in a technical field or commensurate experience

　　10 years’ experience in a related field

　　French language skills
