Summary About the Position: Serves as a Quality Assurance Assistant for the procurement and surveillance inspections of operational rations and ration components in accordance with contractual documents, directives from Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Public Health Command - Atlantic (PHC-A) and unit policies. Responsibilities The inspection and Acceptance of Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) Final Lots for Government procurement. Inspection of Subassembly’s on a daily basis. Preparation and submission of component samples to various laboratories. Inspection of a set number of samples for correct contents and shelf life. Inspect of all pallets received that are destined for MRE use for mold and insects upon arrival, during storage, during assembly and at time of shipment. One year of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade in the Federal service which includes experience in (1) Procedures and techniques for quality assurance, applying statistical quality control plans and methods to operations related to food quality, security, and safety; (2) Packaging methods for a wide range of products; (3) Interpreting and applying specifications, regulations and policies for inspections; and (4) Using a variety of equipment and subsistence testing methods to test and evaluate subsistence items. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Clerical Product and Service Examination Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
