  Summary

  Drives strategic planning, implementation, and measurement of integrated marketing communications efforts for Spirit of Gallo and its portfolio of brand. Ensures strategic marketing disciplines are industryleading and deliver ‘best-in-class’ thought leadership, driving brand awareness, understanding and love. Strategically plans marketing communications initiatives to win with key consumer segments through insights-driven passion point identification, culture/lifestyle strategy, trade media and relationship management with influencers and journalists in multiple verticals of culture. Leads measurement, evaluation and learning agendas for programs and brands.

  Essential Functons

  Leads the development of culturally relevant public relations programs that generate high volume of top tier, positive earned media (traditional and emerging) in key verticals of culture (e.g. sports, lifestyle, entertainment, business, breaking news, food and beverage) to breakthrough with the consumer.

  Develops high-level integrated public relations approach and budget, in partnership with brand teams, and drafts PR, influencer and/or partnership briefs.

  Provides input for fiscal budget planning process with brand marketing partners and business leadership to ensure public relations initiatives are properly resourced to succeed.

  Builds and sustains working relationships with brand marketing teams, senior leadership, departmental colleagues, cross-functional peers and BU leadership to sustain and grow modern, coordinated and unified public relations capabilities to meet business needs.

  Manages multiple public relations agencies as an extension of the in-house team, drafting best-inclass briefs, leading and coaching them in the planning process, and partnering with brand marketing in the day to day management to ensure work consistently meets the highest quality standards.

  Leads and manages PR measurement and evaluation framework, with clear KPI setting,benchmarking and learning agenda, as well as continuous improvement plan.

  Maintains a pulse on trends and innovations in PR and cultural marketing, and consistently drives innovative approaches to marketing communications for Spirit of Gallo and its brands – from new media, platforms or formats to identifying white space opportunities in culture.

  Leads all earned media strategies for Spirit of Gallo and its brands, with or without agency support, including key messaging, assets, media lists, exclusive and embargo plans and rollout timeline to secure maximum coverage.

  Creates and distributes ongoing reports for projects and brands, tracks progress against KPIs and real-time learnings and optimizations.

  Monitors, summarizes and shares thought leadership in relevant culture news, trends and identifies opportunities to put the consumer at the heart of our marketing initiatives and connect with them in innovative ways and formats.

  Organizes and plans high-volume of work, setting and tracking realistic deadlines and appropriately delegating to agencies and cross-functional partners.

  Creates internal communications plans and materials for Spirit of Gallo and its brands.

  Manages and supports trade media buying from planning to execution. Manages traffic of assets in partnership with brand teams, agencies and cross-functional peers.

  Drafts and/or edits press materials and pitches, and conducts media outreach on behalf of Gallo and its brands.

  Manages distribution of any press releases and media information in a timely and effective manner.

  Provides expertise and subject matter guidance on the development of any consumer-centric, earned media plan and/or any influencer-focused campaign that involves either earned or paid-for talent supporting select, priority wine & spirits brands.

  Fosters key strategic relationships with 3rd party publishers, earned media partners and consumer-centric journalists as well as social media influencers and paid ambassadors and spokespeople (who may include athletes, actors, musicians and/or entertainers) across the marketing spectrum.

  Maintains positive working relationships with targeted partners, agents, brokers, platforms and stakeholders to generate positive association / endorsement / sentiment and/or unique strategic alliances on behalf of E&J Gallo and select priority brands within its portfolio.

  Mentors junior public relations professionals, including those who report to different managers and may work remotely.

  Maintains a sound understanding of compliance within the adult beverage industry ensuring that all planned PR, events and influencer marketing activities are fully compliant with company risk being minimized or altogether nullified.

  Uses complete knowledge of the adult beverage industry as well as the E&J Gallo business to confidently express opinions and influence impacting both tactical implementation efforts as well as overarching strategic business decisions.

  Develops recommendations impacting brand public relations governance to change systems, policies, and procedures, while ensuring timely and accurate implementation.

  Participates in department and intra-departmental planning meetings as requested and works interdependently and seamlessly with both management teams and cross-functional peer groups to improve upon processes as well as contributing towards a best-in-class CoE on behalf of the organization.

  Supports the successful contract negotiation of any and all agreements that are forged between E&J Gallo and any agency/vendor/3rd party partner, strategic alliance, IP rights holder, media/publisher, social network, talent management/broker, influencer and/or external spokesperson/ambassador; Contributes towards the acquisition of assets, access and IP rights associated with any contractual agreement that is procured on behalf of the company.

  Serves as an external ambassador on behalf of E&J Gallo and represents the corporate values with the highest of integrity.

  Draft paid planning and support of the trade media strategy.

  Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing plus 6 years of consumer and lifestyle public relations experience to include 2 years of spirits experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing plus 4 years of consumer/lifestyle public relations experience to include 2 years of spirits experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  Experience developing end-to-end PR projects for spirits brands or companies; OR high school degree plus 8 years of consumer/lifestyle public relations and/or influencer marketing experience to include 2 years of spirits experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility

  Supervisory/managerial experience.

  Track record of consistently delivering lifestyle PR campaigns that generate high volume of coverage in top tier mainstream media outlets.

  Established relationships with lifestyle media press and influencers.

  Skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint at an advanced level, to analyze and summarize high volume of data.

  Experience managing public relations agencies OR working at public relations agency.

  Exceptional communications skills: writing for press, presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build strong and effective relationships.

  Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from journalists, media/publishers, SAO’s, social media influencers, customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

  Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing solid conclusions.

  Experience working within strict budgets, negotiating with outside vendors, working with legal team members on contract negotiations, overseeing all areas of both consumer public relations and/or influencer marketing execution.

  Required to travel up to 30% of the time.

  Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.

  Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or Business Administration with a Marketing concentration plus 8 years of consumer/lifestyle public relations experience to include 3 years of spirits experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  Experience working in a leading spirits company.

  Experience responding effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

  Experience making effective and persuasive presentations to marketing clients, management, public groups or boards of directors.

  Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  Experience working with all levels and functions within the company.

  Compensation

  Hiring Salary Range: $105,400 - $158,000/Year

  Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
