PUBLIC HEALTH NURSEDistinguishing Features of the Class: Performs public health nursing activities with individuals and families in accordance with the planned program of the agency. Under supervision performs public health nursing program activities involving responsibility for assessment of health needs and developing the plan of care for individuals and families. The work is distinguished by the responsibility of the incumbent for initial implementation of nursing care plans and providing nursing care. Supervises Registered Professional Nurses and staff assigned to carry out the plans of care. The incumbent is also responsible for periodic re-evaluation of individual and family nursing needs. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: EITHER:A) A bachelor's degree in nursing from an approved school acceptable to the New York State Department of Health preparing graduates for beginning positions under supervision; ORB) A bachelor's degree in nursing from a non-approved school supplemented by content which equates to the program of an approved school.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS:Eligibility for a New York State Registered Professional Nurse's license at time of application. Possession of the license at the time of appointment.
