  BWXT is currently seeking an Prototyping & Component Development Manager for its Lynchburg, VA – BIC location!

  BWXT is currently recruiting for a Prototyping & Component Development Manager within the Advanced Technologies organization. This position will have a lead role in the day-to-day succesful execution of our programs.

  Job Description / Duties

  Responsible for resource loading/assignments and priorities for engineers and technicians that are direct reports to this position.

  Actively coordinates with key stakeholders and other group disciplines in Advanced Technologies and external customers to ensure the delivery of robust technical solutions.

  Develops technical schedule task activities, durations, and logic - monitors and adjusts staffing needs to meet schedule commitments during program performance.

  Provide design and drawing review/approval for designs originating within the organization. Backfits direct reports as needed with creating design models and detailed drawings using CAD software and other design methods.

  Assists in the development and qualification of advanced manufacturing technologies while balancing multiple program priorities, applying practicality, assuring flexibility, and pitching in as needed to help.

  Supports engineering procurement efforts and control of components to ensure components meet specified requirements.

  Interfaces regularly with QA/QC personnel to define Quality requirements, acceptance criteria, and helps resolve deviations/non-conformances.

  Ensures design and fabrication configuration control is maintained in accordance with AT processes and procedures

  Provide technical and career based mentorship to direct reports to improve the organization

  Communicates task/project status to all stakeholders clearly and effectively to maintain clarity of progress, issues, mitigating actions, barriers, etc.

  Provides technical and commercial proposal inputs.

  Provide other engineering and manufacturing support tasks as required.

  Job Qualifications / Requirements:

  This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  A Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.

  Must possess a minimum of 7 years of manufacturing process experience. Preference is given to candidates with 10+ years of experience.

  A minimum of 5 years of supervisory / leadership experience is required.

  Must have demonstrated experience in leading high-performing / high-functioning engineering and technician teams focused on delivering new and novel processes and technologies.

  Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written along with interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization.

  Must be highly organized and can adapt under any circumstances, while seeking guidance when needed.

  Must be able to work in a team environment to solve complex problems coordinating research and development (R&D) activities with project milestones and deliverables.

  Must be able to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.

  Must be able to demonstrate a sense of urgency and self-motivation; ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

  Must be able to communicate task/project status to all stakeholders clearly and effectively to maintain clarity of progress, issues, mitigating actions, barriers, etc.

  Must have demonstrated experience and proficiency in Solidworks (or comparable) 3D CAD as well as Microsoft Office Products (Project, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc).

  Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE or DOD security clearance, whichever is required. Must be a US citizen with no dual citizenship.

  The base salary range for this position in [[stateProvince]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[custsalaryMin]] and $[[custsalaryMax]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
