Primary Role This water quality internship experience will introduce you to the exciting career opportunities in the water and wastewater field at Pennsylvania American Water. The successful candidate will: Learn firsthand how water utilities support communities and provide resiliency and sustainability, Work with a team of professionals to assist with activities related to environmental management and water quality for assigned facilities, assist with programs to ensure compliance with all water quality and environmental regulations. Key Accountabilities * Assist with the implementation and management of monitoring and reporting programs to ensure compliance with federal and state water quality/environmental regulations and company standards. * Assist with advanced sampling and/or analysis of water. * Assist with data analysis and development of reports including the interpretation of water quality reports and records. * Assist with resolving water quality and treatment issues at full scale production facilities and distribution systems and Assist with the handling and documentation of water quality complaints. * Assist operations staff in water and wastewater facilities with routine production activities including data collection and evaluation. Knowledge/Skills * Detail oriented to conduct thorough analyses and evaluations, render and implement timely decisions and recommendations. * Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple projects and deadlines. * Ability to seek input/feedback and coordinate with staff. * Good communication skills. * Good working knowledge of computer programs, databases and software to support specific assignments. * Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills. * Good analytical and problem-solving skills. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience/Education * Enrollment in an Environmental or Science undergrad degree program from an accredited school. * Minimum of 2 years of completed course work. Other Requirements * Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check. * Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
