We are seeking a Project Engineer, Capital Projects who will support the project management team in evaluation and execution of facility-related capital projects for Rotoflow and Gardner Cryogenics, Air Products businesses, in Lehigh Valley. They will report directly to the Capital Projects Lead Project Manager.
The business strategies for Rotoflow and Gardner Cryogenics over the next several years involve product line additions, significant top line growth, and market expansion. The Project Engineer, Capital Projects will support the Planning team to translate these inputs into facility requirements, including coordinating with commercial, manufacturing, and various technical teams, generating technical specifications for construction proposals, and acting as the primary technical liaison during the execution of these projects.
The Project Engineer, Capital Projects will also support the Project team with the responsibility of coordinating the execution of all engineering project activities, including generating technical specifications for project estimates, requisitions, design and drawing reviews with contractors and suppliers, contractor schedule alignment, technical communication management, and contractor management during construction. They will use multi-functional relationships involving real estate, environmental team, legal, finance, procurement, construction and Gardner/Rotoflow experts to meet milestones and decision points.
The role will provide an opportunity to learn Gardner and Rotoflow processes and businesses, positioning the incumbent for future roles in the organization after major capital projects are completed.Required Skills / Abilities:The role requires a high level of influence and interpersonal skills in order to achieve successful outcomes. It requires the ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization, including the most senior leadership. The role requires a high level of organization, and essential project management skills.Act as technical liaison and coordinate engineering execution on projects up to $100MM.Opportunity to self-perform managing projects up to $1MM.Lead project engineering requirements in support of facility and/or land expansion needs for Rotoflow and Gardner Cryogenics.Plan, coordinate, implement and follow-through of goals in multiple parallel projects or sub projects.Assist in the development of project baseline schedules and maintenance of monthly schedules.During execution, produce weekly / monthly reports in line with the project reporting calendar, providing details on progress, actuals, forecast and explanation of variances on technical milestones.Motivated to support an industry-leading regional project planning team capable of managing internal/external customer projects including EPC's, within both the office and construction site environments.Accountable to ensure and uphold Air Product's standard of quality in relation to safety process, procedures and practices during all phases of the project.Use Air Products planning IT systems and work processes to provide reliable and consistent reporting and analysis to ensure project and business requirements are met.Collaborate with the Business Development and project teams to develop and deliver competitive project schedules aligned to the execution scope and strategy during the bid phase through award and execution.Collaborate with int rnal and external project team members to maintain accurate progress & earned value measurement systems for engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning to provide credible control throughout the project execution phase.Education and Licensing Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field requiredA minimum of 5 years of experience in capital project planning and executingSound knowledge, proven skills and competencies in the application of project engineering and planning principles, methodologies and tools, supporting all phases of project planning, execution and closure.Advanced problem-solving skills. Ability to recommend alternative solutions and translate complex concepts into simplified and understandable examples.Strong organizational skills and ability to constructively handle conflict.Ability to work across all levels to influence key stakeholders and lead through influence. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.High energy, desire to learn new skills, and desire to continue assuming broader leadership roles in the organization. Ability to communicate effectively at senior levels of the organization.Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint requiredExperience with MS Project, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, CAD, SolidWorks, EcoSys, OpenText a plusFamiliarity with facility construction, land development and permitting is a plusFamiliarity with discrete manufacturing operations a plusCAPM/PMP/PE certifications are a plus#LI-JM
