JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary: The Project Coordinator for theFoster Grandparents and the Senior Companion (FGP/SCP) Programs providespre-service and in-service training and guidance for elder volunteersthat care for frail elders and serve as mentors to youth in theircommunities as well as assisting tribal staff with recruitment,orientation, placement and coordination of all volunteer activities aswell as volunteer development. Serves as liaison between Great LakesInter-Tribal Council (GLITC) Elders Program Director and tribal worksites. Daily attendance is an essential duty of this position. PrincipalDuties and Responsibilities: Travel to tribal in-service meetings, atleast 80 meetings per year. Assist tribal staff at participating tribalsites in recruiting, orienting, and placing volunteers at approvedtribes within the GLITC service area. Assist tribal staff incoordinating volunteer activities, including volunteer development,monthly in-service training and work site placement in accordance withprogram work plans. Maintain in-kind documentation, volunteer recordsand presentation evaluations from in-service meetings. Set-up monthlyin-service training sessions and conferences for all FGP/SCP volunteers.Coordinate pre-service orientation for new volunteers, with sitesupervisor. Arrange for speakers or presentations with the help of sitesupervisors or other tribal staff. Keeps in close contact with sitesupervisors to determine volunteer needs, requests, or issues.Coordinate and supervise the activities of volunteers, includingfollow-through on Information Agreements and Care Plans and otherrequired volunteer forms. Provide documentation and material to ProgramAssistant for further clerical duties as needed. Additional Duties andResponsibilities: Serve as liaison between tribal work sites and ProgramDirector in the capacity of volunteer issues, data collection andreporting. Complete tribal in-kind reports from meetings. Assure thatall services are delivered in a culturally competent manner. Engage innetworking activities to ensure awareness of services available.Participates on various committees outside and within the organizationas deemed necessary and appropriate to the position and supervisor.Attend all training sessions and meetings as scheduled. Attend technicalconferences and seminars to stay current on technological advances.Perform other duties as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities ofthis position. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimumof one year experience in human services field required. Preferred:Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and/ornot-for-profit agency preferred.
