JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: A Project Appointment-STUDENT(PA-STUDENT) classification is utilized for a foreign national who is atMCW as a student for the purposes of furthering his or her education. Inorder to qualify for this position, student status must be proven.Attributes of a Project Appointment: PA-STUDENTS are temporarily broughtinto an MCW laboratory because they desire to supplement theireducation, which they are primarily receiving at an institution otherthan MCW. There is an established date of termination, and there is noexpectation of continued or permanent employment. The total duration ofthe Project Appointment cannot exceed four years. Primary FunctionsDesign and perform laboratory procedures and experiments with minimalsupervision. Manage and operate laboratory equipment with minimalsupervision. Participate in meetings with principle investigator andresearch staff. Evaluate and interpret the validity of data, developmethodologies, evaluate laboratory procedures. Retrieve information fromlibrary and computerized databases; assist in preparation of manuscriptsand presentations. Maintain supplies, may negotiate with vendors, andtrack purchase orders. Maintain equipment, perform/supervise repairs,and update computer hardware and software. Knowledge - Skills -Abilities Required knowledge: biology, chemistry, mathematics,statistics, documentation, records management, data utilization, complexproblem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writingskills Skills and abilities: This will vary based on the hiringmanager\'s preferences and should include things that can be learned ortrained for.
