Job Description
DUTIES: The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00p.m.
The Recruitment Coordinator functions as a team member and provides administrative assistance to the Director of Recruitment, the Recruitment Specialist, and all other agency personnel concerning methods to be followed in recruitment programs, recruitment and referral policies and procedures, merit system principles, etc.
Performs related duties such as generating recruitment reports and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment, attending meetings, updating, and maintaining records, files, and electronic databases, etc.
Responds to telephone calls, responds to incoming and outgoing mail, assists with the referral of applicants to Hiring Managers and ODEO staff for employment by matching applicant's qualifications with job requirements.
Capable of establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships including building a strong and trusting rapport with persons from different ethnic, cultural and/or economic backgrounds. Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and to use sound judgment.
Provides information to the public and others concerning employment opportunities including such areas as civil service examinations, salaries, benefits, career ladders, educational opportunities, etc.
Assists with managing the Internship Program for the 103 DOC 226 Policy and the Job Shadow Program.
Periodically attend recruitment and information sessions, job and career fairs, community, and cultural events.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operator's license may be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills essential for effectively interacting with candidates, hiring managers and staff members. Strong interpersonal skills to network in the community and build relationships with candidates. Ability to manage multiple tasks, exercise time management skills, maintain accurate records in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook Email, Microsoft Excel and knowledgeable with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram etc. Ability to review data, resumes, job postings and determine the applicability to make appropriate recommendations and exercise sound judgment and decision making.
Comments:
This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement. Applicants must have no felony convictions, to include any actions defined in 5 U.S.C. 301; U.S.C. 509, 510; 42 U.S.C. 15601-15609. The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall not hire anyone who may have direct contact with offenders, who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.
II. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
