As a Production Supervisor in a meat processing company located in Des Moines, IA, you will oversee the first shift from 5:30 am to 3 pm and work approximately 20 Saturdays a year. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from $65,000 to $75,000 along with a 10% bonus and 6th/7th-day pay.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervising and leading a team of approximately 130 employees along with another supervisor, ensuring production goals and quality standards are met.
Overseeing the entire meat processing operations, from slaughter to RTE Sausage, with a workforce of about 900 employees.
Conducting daily walks and visual inspections on the production floor to ensure safety, quality, and yield standards are maintained.
Training employees on safe operating procedures and ensuring adherence to product specifications and regulatory requirements.
Collaborating with Operations Managers and Supervisors to optimize departmental efficiency and minimize production costs.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience in food processing, supervisory roles, and familiarity with manufacturing practices and equipment.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Ability to work in varying production environments and manage supervisory responsibilities in line with company policies and applicable laws.
The work environment may include exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, and working near moving mechanical parts. The role may also involve occasional lifting and/or movement of up to 50 pounds.
