  Collins Aerospace’s Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico (GETC-PR) is looking for a highly focused and dedicated Product Designer who is a team player with a high level of initiative and the ability to work in an environment of rapidly changing priorities in designing and analyzing complex aerospace product.

  This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. Candidate must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.

  Primary Responsibilities:

  Create design definition for components and assemblies that is clear, accurate, complete, conforms to internal standards, procedures, specifications.

  Design new products and processes, and improve and maintain existing products

  Use CAD tools to generate new or change 2D detail, assembly, equipment, and layout drawings from 3D CAD models per industry and The Company’s drafting standards.

  Create 3D product models, outlines, and layouts

  Apply tolerance stack-up analysis results to ensure correct fit and alignment, and performance of complex assemblies

  Support product design reviews and coordinate work with project, engineering, and manufacturing teams

  Ensure accuracy of Clearance Envelopes, Assembly Removal studies, and Fit Checks for correct fit and alignment on engine, and performance of complex assembly drawings to customer model.

  Create assemblies and manage the Bill of Materials review.

  Check drawings for accuracy, correct GD&T, and compliance to the aerospace industry and Collin’s drafting and manufacturing standards

  Create Model Based annotations to document geometric tolerances and notes in the 3D CAD compliant with ASME Y14.41-2012.

  Create CAD cable models including individual wires using Creo cabling modules.

  Develop circuit card assemblies (CCA) using IDF bi-directional import functionality in Creo, NX and Solidworks.

  Work with electrical designers to perform updates on the CCA CAD models using IDF files.

  Create complex surface geometry using Creo, NX and Solidworks for molded housings and organic shapes.

  Develop surface models of housings that are split into subsequent parts by using master model techniques such as WAVE in NX, External Copy Geom in Creo or Insert Part in Solidworks.

  Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

  Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).

  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Experience with CAD systems NX, CREO, Solid Works

  Experience with PDM/PLM systems Enovia, Windchill, SEPDM

  Experience with ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standard
