  Position Summary: The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for the management of Supply Base assignments to ensure appropriate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) disciplines are executed for successful component launch. These activities include but are not limited to: Component Technical Reviews, PPAP Approval, and Supplier Onsite Launch activities to drive consistency throughout Supply Base on company policies and to ensure program milestones are successfully delivered for ZF internal and external customers worldwide.

  What you can look forward to as a Principal Supplier Development Engineer:

  Direct, monitor, and review supplier APQP activities (control plans, PFMEA, process flow, SPC, run at rate, PPAP, etc.) and ensure processes are completed to ZF standards and are delivered on-time.

  Assist suppliers in problem solving effectiveness including root cause analysis through implementation of corrective actions.

  Conduct supplier assessments.

  Work with suppliers to develop continuous improvement plans and metrics to monitor performance and continuously improve quality and process and achieve cost reduction targets.

  Interface with Customers on critical supplier issues as necessary.

  Lead supplier APQP kick-off meetings and supplier design reviews.

  Active member in the ZF Sourcing Committee.

  Participate, as needed, on ZF Teams and effectively interact with other ZF technical departments and Assembly Plant personnel to find creative solutions to constraints.

  Your profile as a Principal Supplier Development Engineer:

  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline.

  8+ years of relevant experience.

  Automotive experience.

  Good computer skills including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.

  Experience with Automotive APQP process with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier.

  Experience using electronic systems to monitor programs and components.

  Experience participating in regular program/project reviews including presentation of key project status and reports. Strong project management skills.

  This position requires regional and international travel - approximately 50%.
