About Principal Product Manager-Tech, Sustainable Packaging

  Description

Amazon's Sustainable Packaging team delivers technologies that improve customer experience (CX) by reducing packaging waste, lowering our cost to serve and demonstrating Amazon’s commitment to the Climate Pledge. Our products and programs are public facing and provide a unique opportunity to interact with end customers on every order. This role will lead Ships in Product Packaging business and software strategy, including incubating new product development opportunities that cross selling-partner, shopping, and fulfillment software systems. You will drive the definition of tech products (software, science, data), bringing teams from across the organization and around the globe together to define, build, and deliver on the programs' vision, improve our store experience for customers, and drive business impact.

A successful candidate excels in both strategic thinking and tactical execution, is comfortable with ambiguity and thrives in driving large-scale changes. They are highly customer-focused, exceling at influencing and engaging others, and can swiftly navigate diverse technical and business challenges. Your leadership style thrives on collaboration, involving teams across product, program, design, science, and engineering spheres. You possess outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, simplifying complex concepts and guiding decisive actions. You anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and make tradeoffs when necessary. Keys to success include strong motivation to dive deep into the data to uncover root causes and solving problems independently.

  Key job responsibilities

Own operations plans and quarterly/monthly business reviews for the Ships In Product Packaging product portfolio (crossing six distinct product pillars)

Work closely with technical leaders and product managers to compose and influence product vision, roadmap and execution.

Compile requirements documents, delineate use cases and customer experiences (CX), and oversee the business metrics and KPIs for your products and services.

Lead high-visibility, cross-team initiatives including scoping, requirement gathering, technical design, implementation, and launch phases. This includes evaluating and recommending technical solutions to meet customer requirements, ensuring long-term scalability, and meeting project timelines

Reduce cross-organizational exposure to failure modes (e.g. requirements not sufficiently understood/documented, ineffective cross-team collaboration, inadequate system design, insufficient testing/gaps, etc.)

Demonstrate strong product management, organizational, and leadership skills
