　　Job Description

　　Our Manchester Roads team, part of the Transportation Business Line, is currently looking for a Principal Engineer/Consultant with experience of leading traffic and municipal engineering schemes.

　　The team is highly successful and is growing to cater for an increased workload, particularly Active Travel and Bus Priority schemes. The team workload ranges from feasibility studies, preliminary / detail design and on-site management, working with mainly public sector clients such as Greater Manchester Councils and Transport for Greater Manchester. This is a significant opportunity to be involved in strategically important schemes in Greater Manchester, across the UK and beyond.

　　Job Responsibilities

　　Preparation of designs and drawings in accordance with technical design standards

　　Management of small and medium work packages and projects

　　Interface with the Client as necessary to deliver the work

　　Writing contract documents and technical reports as required

　　Communication to the immediate team, the wider organisation and external parties

　　Responsibility for managing the workloads and technical oversight of small team of Graduate engineers and technicians

　　Developing of specific project outcomes on time, within budget, to the quality required

　　Minimum Requirements

　　To be commercially aware and able to lead a team of 3-5 engineers and technicians, to programme workloads and successfully deliver projects to time, budget and quality

　　To be able to forecast resource requirements and undertake business development to win new business within the unit by targeting the property sector

　　To provide wide ranging Highways and Traffic engineering design and project management expertise to delivery multi-disciplined developments

　　Ability to prepare fee proposals based on number of hours to complete activities

　　Whilst not essential any of the following skills would be desirable:

　　Understanding/experience of 3D Highway Design including use of Civil 3D

　　Urban Design/Streetscape.

　　Project Management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, APM).

　　Appreciation of traffic modelling outputs.
