Dr. Andrea Geisz at the Department of Surgery, Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral research associate to join her team. Dr. Geisz’s research is aimed at understanding the mechanistic basis of pancreatitis development, specifically how various pancreatic proteases and their inhibitors contribute to disease pathogenesis. The successful candidate will work on generating and characterizing mouse models of acute, recurrent acute and chronic pancreatitis and developing preclinical gene and drug therapy strategies.

　　Key responsibilities of the position include:

　　Managing mouse colonies including genotyping and breeding, administering IP injections, performing small animal surgeries, processing and evaluating histopathology, performing western blot analysis and ELISAs, executing enzyme kinetic measurements by spectrophotometry and spectrofluorometry.

　　The candidate is expected to contribute to manuscript writing, present research findings at scientific conferences and train other laboratory personnel.

　　Required Skills

　　PhD in Molecular Biology or Cell Biology or related fields.

　　Extensive hands-on experience in molecular, cell biological and animal model techniques.

　　Ability to design and execute experiments independently and lead research projects under the guidance of Dr. Geisz.

　　Sound verbal and written communication skills, excellent record-keeping skills.

　　Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills.
