  The Idaho State Police (ISP) has a current opening for a POST Training Coordinator 3 with in Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) in Meridian. This position will manage the Idaho POST Academy Training Bureau.

  Incumbents in this position will be responsible for managing staff and program operations involving basic officer training academies or over regional coordinator staff and all law enforcement certification program academies throughout the state, and instructor standards and certifications. Incumbents will serve as a member of the POST Management Team and advise POST Administration on organization and program effectiveness. Incumbents will define goals, delegate work to achieve those goals and evaluate performance of subordinate staff. Incumbents must possess significant supervisory, problem solving and conflict resolution experience. Must pass an extensive background investigation and polygraph test.   Responsibilities:

  · Manage and oversee the Idaho POST Academy Training Bureau or POST Regional Training Unit;

  · Manage professional staff and professional contractor staff for basic training academy operations;

  · Assist in selecting professional and support staff;

  · Assign and evaluate professional and support staff;

  · Facilitate strategic planning sessions with staff;

  · Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures;

  · Assist in developing and implementing long and short range plans for programs, personnel, equipment and other needs;

  · Ensure programs meet IDAPA and industry standards;

  · Provide direction for operation of existing programs and development of new programs;

  · Monitor areas of program responsibility to ensure consistency in operations and the quality of programs;

  · Ensure programs are in conformance with department, federal, state, and local law enforcement jurisdiction requirements;

  · Ensure programs are in compliance with accreditation standards;

  · Consult with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs);

  · Advise subordinate staff in resolving problems and coach on new concepts and practices;

  · Monitor and research trends and recommend action to remain current with industry standards.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Significant Experience:

  · Supervising and evaluating staff;

  · Utilizing sound management practices, problem- solving and conflict resolution skills.

  Experience:

  · At least ten (10) years’ current or prior experience as a POST certified law enforcement officer (or other state/federal equivalent;)

  · Problem solving, coaching and successfully leading teams;

  · Maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and performing strategic planning.

  · Experience as a law enforcement instructor;

  · Interpreting and applying state and federal laws, in law enforcement training standards, and creating public safety policy;

  · Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
