Leads three or more GS-2005 employees in the distribution area to provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instruments sets, and equipment. Assignments include but are not limited to: scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing, and the distribution of medical and surgical supplies, instruments, and other material. Must have knowledge of applicable policies and procedures as well as inventory systems such as the generic inventory package (GIP), bar-coding, aseptic procedures and Logistics processes. Leads three or more GS-2005 employees in the distribution area of Logistics. Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workload. Monitors status and progress of work, makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities. Obtains assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise, such as backlogs which cannot be disposed of promptly. Estimates and reports on expected time of completion of work. Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies. Gives on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Purchasing supplies using the government purchase card and maintaining accurate records. Checking stock daily to insure first-in/first-out. Utilizing bar code devices to ensure that all stock levels are maintained. Ensure expiration dates are not outdated. Conducts extensive catalogue searches for required information. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items' weighing over 40 pounds.
