Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine of Erie is seeking a Full-Time Physician Assistant Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the clinical activities of the physician assistants in the department.
Position Details
Hours: Monday-Friday daylight
Location: 100 Peach St STE 400 Erie PA 16507. Local travel to UPMC Hamot and ASC.
Position Specifics: Orthopaedic Surgery including OR First Assist. Approximately 40% OR, 50% Outpatient Clinic, and 10% Inpatient rounding and clinic.
Department Details: We are the largest ortho group in Erie, with 7 board-certified surgeons and 8 highly skilled APPs.

Purpose:
Coordinate and oversee all physician assistant and certified nurse practitioner functions.
Responsibilities:
Organize and oversee staffing of clinical sites with attending physician and Director of Operations.
Liaison for all advanced practice providers for each site. This would include communication to the division management and physicians on behalf of the advanced practice providers, as well as communication to the MLP's from management.
Act as a liaison to and preceptor for PA and CRNP students.
Perform those duties outlined in the Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner job description.
Implements, maintains, monitors, and communicates Human Resources policies pertaining to PA's and CRNP's.
Assist staff in preparation of conferences.
Provides departmental leadership to direct, supervise, and manage daily activities of the PA's and CRNP's; completes annual performance evaluations in conjunction with support staff.
Facilitate training of staff for all PA's and CRNP's.
Oversee staff adherence to compliance requirements including documentation, coding, licensure, internal and external audits, compliance and safety training (OSHA).
Participates in recruitment, evaluation, and management of PA and CRNP employees.
Troubleshoot problems in clinical areas. Work in conjunction with clinical staff to resolve issues.
Primary contact for patient complaints or other clinical issues on behalf of the physician in his/her absence.
A graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) is required.
5 years as a physician assistant or relevant managerial experience required (at least 3 of the 5 years from APP experience)
3 years experience in the department specialty preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Physician Assistant (PA)
Physician Assistant Certified (NCCPA)
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
