Key Purpose of the Role
The Physical Identify Access Management (PIAM) key function is to control authorised access to the BT Estate this includes BT, Openreach, contractors, 3rd parties and Communication Providers (CPs). The PAIM team is a critical part of the BT Security framework to defend our assets, employees and customers from physical intrusion, cyber-attacks and insider threats. We are an integral part of BT’s risk management strategy.
The PIAM team automates physical access management tasks, removing human error and enabling attribute-based physical access controls to be put in place. This ensures that people only have the physical access they need to do their job, which improves safety and security outcomes. Additionally, it delivers a full audit trail of physical access management processes so that we can demonstrate compliance to our auditors.
The PIAM team sits within the wider Networks and Security team. We are a small team, dedicated to delivering innovative secured solutions to our customers including (BT, Openreach and third parties).
Key Responsibilities of the Role
The PIAM role is responsible for controlling authorised access to the BT Estate to support the reduction of security threats by undertaking the key responsibilities.
Taking ownership of problems and enquiries on PIAM activities through all communication streams to meet SLAs and enable access to the BT Estate in line with BT policy.
Processing orders received for cards, keys, and other access/authentication tokens, in accordance with local processes to meet SLA’s.
Responsible for managing the on/off boarding process for CPs and 3rd parties in accordance BT’s policy and compliance regulations.
Providing regular access/asset reporting and management information for the services provided by the PIAM team and supporting the provision of building utilisation data.
Maintain building access configuration and the zone approval process working with Physical Security Advisors and other stakeholders in line BT Security Policies.
Responsible for reporting & escalating faults affecting any of the PIAM systems. To identify access control issues promptly and support to solutions to prevent their occurrence.
Provide support for PIAM applications their development, testing and deployment.
Support the use and development of PIAM methodologies, processes and procedures, document ideas for improvements, assist knowledge capture and provide feedback where appropriate.
Carry out routine stock control checks, replenish stock when required and escalate any stock related concerns to the PIAM Manager
Skills/Knowledge
Mandatory
Must have the dexterity to print, package and post ID Cards, keys and tokens
Must have a good computer skills: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access etc
Must have ability to understand customer service impact and priorities
Must have be a problem solve.
Must be able to take ownership of problems and escalate these through to resolution
Must have excellent communication both written and verbal
Must be have been a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years (SC clearance maybe required in the future)
Would be nice
Worked in the Physical Identity and Access Management or other similar industry before
Understands the role of the Physical Security Operations Centre in the business setting.
Awareness/Knowledge of BT’s Security Systems, processes and procedures
Awareness/Knowledge of external accreditations such as ISO27001 and 23001
Awareness/Knowledge of any relevant security changes within BT or industry for example 27001, 23001, TSA etc.
Awareness/Knowledge of ISO 9001.
