  The Role

  Skills for a junior mainframe performance engineer:

  4 to 6 years of relevant experience.

  Ability to analyze complex performance issues on z/OS-based applications, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions. Strong knowledge of SAS and MXG

  Knowledge of RMF and SMF records to be used for performance analysis.

  Program analysis tools

  APA

  Cobol debugging - Fault Analyzer

  Familiarity with z/OS performance monitoring tools:

  DB2 Query Monitor

  Sysview/IMS, Sysview for DB2

  MQ

  z/OS

  Proficiency in Excel for data analysis, including advanced pivot tables and graphing.

  Understanding of JCL, and parameters which drive resource usage

  Problem-solving and analytical skills

  Strong written & oral communication skills

  A junior mainframe performance engineer should possess a strong foundation in mainframe performance monitoring

  and analysis. They should be knowledgeable in SAS and MXG, familiar with performance monitoring tools,

  and be proficient in using Excel for data analysis. Additionally, they should understand JCL,

  problem-solving and analytical skills, and good communication skills to effectively communicate

  complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
