About PC&L Team Leader - Seneca Battery 12 hour NIGHTS

  This position reports to the Production Controls and Logistics (PC&L) group. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.   The schedule for this role is 12 hours NIGHTS 6:00pm-6:30am. One week you would work 3 nights and the next week you would work 4 nights. This is not a swing shift, just the nights in which you work rotate. Every other weekend off

  Standard Duties as a PC&L Team Leader

  Team leaders are expected to set the tone for their department by demonstrating the BorgWarner core beliefs in every aspect of their role.

  Create, analyze, and deliver reports impacting KPI’s to all levels of the organization to gage effectiveness around continuous improvement initiatives.

  Collaborate and share continuous improvement efforts within the department/facility.

  Facilitate and lead team to implement and complete continuous improvement projects.

  Facilitate communication between team, support groups and management.

  Expected to understand, train, and develop employee’s all the duties as outlined in the PC&L job descriptions.

  Mediate any conflict between employees and departments and escalate to management team as necessary.

  Be accountable to the PC&L department objectives and communicate department performance to team.

  Actively participate in leadership development activities sponsored by BorgWarner.

  Evaluate employee performance during and after orientation period and request additional training for employee if needed.

  Complete Team Leader standard work (i.e. Reporting downtime, safety incidents, quality, etc.)

  Compile, store and retrieve PC&L data as necessary.

  Coordinate activities to ensure internal and external customers’ needs are met.

  Support change management initiatives.

  Complete and submit Monthly Safety training.

  Adherence to FIFO standards throughout all storage areas and material flow points.

  Complete initial investigation and documentation for all safety incidents.

  SAP entries and transactions required as needed.

  Use appropriate hold tags to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure.

  Support while driving self-development to allow for department flexibility through learning multiple positions and supporting based off business need.

  Safely operate all equipment and maintain certifications within the PC&L fleet including but no limited to (where applicable):

  All Powered Industrial Equipment (Tugger, Sit Down, Pacer, Reach, Swing Reach, Electric Jacks), etc.

  BW company vehicle

  Read and understand work instructions and/or follow instructions to execute the material flow requirements.

  Manually load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves on foot and by hand as required (see physical requirements).

  Accurately and timely enter materials transactional information into SAP and other systems as required.

  Read electronic and manual bill of materials, pull sheets, pick sheets to retrieve and deliver necessary materials.

  Use appropriate deviation areas, hold tags, to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure.

  Load/Unload materials into trailers adhering to Dock Safety Protocol.

  Provide support on inventory management by performing root cause analysis for all variations with inventory as needed.

  Assist in training and educating employees within the department.

  Other duties as assigned including operating P.I.T., material movement, PC&L Operator roles, etc.

  Emphasis on Battery Operation

  Repack material to introduce to production line in a quality standard.

  Ensure hazmat shipping and receiving requirements are held to standard and followed.

  Safety requirements are followed and always maintained during material movement.

  Additional Information:

  Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time.

  Availability to work a flex schedule due to business needs including working overtime.

  Safety and Physical Requirements:

  Complete DOT HAZMAT training prior to material movement of hazmat products.

  Stand for long periods of time including during operation of stand-up lifts.

  Ability to work from heights.

  Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. repetitively and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

  Stepping up and down off lift; walking long distances over extended periods.

  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.

  Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to box cutting, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts.

  All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with the safety policies and procedures.

  Wear all PPE (including electrical PPE) as required and follow box cutting safety protocols.

  Support 5S/Housekeeping activities as required.

  Education: High School diploma/GED or basic skills assessment required.

  Experience:

  6 months experience in automotive manufacturing material handling/specialist role required including utilizing lean concepts.

  6 months battery material movement preferred.

  1-3 years’ experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment

  6 months of experience in SAP/ERP systems preferred.

  Familiarity with key performance indicators of a logistics department

  Proven track record of excellent verbal and written communication.

  Strong customer service skills.

  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  Flexible work schedule/ability to work overtime as needed.

  Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Develop effective relationships across all departments and teams.

  Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP software, Leading to Lean, Excel Spreadsheet, PowerPoint Presentations and Word.
