Job Title: Director of Student Achievement-Instructional Programs FY2324_163 Reports to: Superintendent Classification: Certified Administrative - 225 Day Work Year Effective Date: 7/1/2024 for 2024/2025 School Year Salary: $97,015.86-$111,029.23 Job Summary: Under the direction of the Superintendent, this position is responsible to coordinate the implementation of educational programs aligned to the Long-Range Strategic Plan established by the Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and those required by the Montana Accreditation Standards in the areas of curriculum, planning, budget and evaluation. Appropriately implements state and federal education laws and regulations. This position will also collaborate with the Director of Student Achievement – Special Programs in shared areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional development, and educational programming. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises and evaluates certified and licensed staff which may include selected curriculum department staff, instructional technologies, curriculum specialists, Title I II, III staff, Gifted and Talented coordinator, instructional coaches, STEM coordinator and the curriculum administrative assistant. Essential Functions Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for directing the district's efforts for planning, coordinating, organizing, and evaluating educational programs PK-12. Work closely and collegially with the superintendent, supervisors, principals, and teachers to meet Montana accreditation standards and support student achievement. Organize and monitor the curriculum development process, including the implementation of the Montana Common Core State Standards. Develop and implement the District Professional Development Plan. Coordinate the district assessment program including state and local testing. Interpret and suggest applications for current research in curriculum, instruction and assessment. Establish and maintain a database on current District demographics and achievement trends. Maintain achievement records and disaggregate data for District program planning. Assist in coordination of the District federal programs. Ensure compliance with local, state and federal guidelines. Develop and manage grants including all Title grants. Identify, use, evaluate, and promote appropriate technologies to enhance and support instruction and standards-based curriculum leading to high levels of student achievement. Manage the budget for curriculum, instruction and assessment. Assist in the development and adoption of the district calendar, and of school policies to include curriculum, instruction and assessment needs. Present information to the Board at public meetings. Direct designated district programs, which may include programs such as Gifted and Talented, English Language Learner, Indian Education for All, McKinney-Vento, and STEM. Develop and promote parent education and support programs to foster increased levels of parental satisfaction with programs and services offered by the district. Assist in the recruitment, selection, and recommendation for hiring district personnel. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Education and Experience: A current Montana Administrator’s License. A minimum of a Master’s degree, preferred from a curriculum-related degree program. A minimum of five years of successful certified teaching experience. Preferred successful Administrative or Educational Leadership experience as a Director or Principal. A valid and current driver’s license. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret educational periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of staff, parents, the board and the general public. Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as descriptive statistics, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to use technology to collect and analyze data, interpret results and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and student learning. Ability to assess staff knowledge, skills and performance and use results to supervise and evaluate staff, make personnel decisions and facilitate quality professional development. Ability to facilitate the use of results from assessment measures (e.g., learner profiles, computer-based testing, electronic portfolios) to improve instructional planning, management, and implementation of learning strategies. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community; to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in curriculum, instruction and assessment. Ability to effectively manage change; to facilitate and mediate conflict and problem solving; to manage a variety of tasks in a timely manner; Ability to work outside typical workday/week hours; Ability to facilitate processes through effective meetings; to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Trustee policies.
