This company in the Heights area of Houston is looking for a Payroll Coordinator. This is a contract-to-hire position paying between $24-28 hourly. This position is fully onsite. The company is a global manufacturer, distributor, and marketer of chemicals and related environmental services. The company's industries span automotive, pharmaceutical, agriculture, and many other sectors. The candidate will process 3 bi-weekly payrolls. This includes processing new hires, terminations, safety shoes/glasses and Uniform purchases, wage garnishments, as well as maintaining the employee files. This position is also responsible for preparing the monthly payroll general journal entries. Review and define salary and benefits expense fluctuations in the general ledger.
Job Duties:
Assure that all payrolls are processed in an accurate and timely manner.
Process New Hires and Terminations and maintain employee personnel files.
Prepare and ensure monthly payroll journal entries are posted to the general ledger on a timely basis according to the close schedule.
Review and define salary and benefit accounts as requested by the accounting department for monthly variances.
Record and edit exception time, edit time sheets.
Maintain data calendars for vacation and sick time.
Process 401(k) deferral change request, rollover and hardship distribution requests.
Prepare annual vacation accruals for the accounting department on an annual basis to be reviewed by the controller.
Maintain I-9, EEOC, and investigative documents on employees.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts for employee receivables, payroll wage/benefit accruals and cash accounts on a monthly basis.
Handle claims for unemployment benefits.
Assist employees with payroll questions.
Handle 13-week wage statements for workers’ compensation claims.
Assist in gathering information for annual 401(k) audit for external auditors.
Review and approve ADP Invoices.
Prepare Group Benefits worksheet allocation and upload entries into the general ledger monthly.
Complete mortgage verifications.
Utilize ADP to run monthly reports for Insurance, wage deductions, overtime & sick report, etc. and distribute.
Reconcile payroll tax filing reports to actual payroll and reconcile to W-2’s.
Maintain employee headcount report for all companies.
Other projects as assigned by supervisor or upper management.
Maintain Timeclock Plus automated timekeeping system.
Requirements
Requirements:
2-5 years experience with payroll
Multi-state payroll experience a plus
