Description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Patient Service Representative in the Healthcare/NHS industry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. As a Patient Service Representative, this role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including handling patient inquiries, maintaining patient records, and managing appointments in a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities:
• Welcome visitors, understand their visit purpose, and guide them to the relevant staff.
• Guide patients in filling out important documents such as intake and insurance forms.
• Accurately schedule, cancel, and confirm patient appointments in a timely manner.
• Preserve the confidentiality of medical charts, reports, and correspondence.
• Manage telecommunication system, routing calls, emails, and documents to appropriate staff.
• Carry out various administrative tasks, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
• Send correspondence and medical records through mail, e-mail, or fax.
• Verify insurance details, obtain authorizations and certifications, and explain patient responsibility forms.
• Execute financial tasks accurately such as copay collection, reconciliation, and deposits to ensure optimal payment for services.
• Handle challenging customers and use service recovery techniques to maintain positive patient relations.
• Support the billing department with insurance denials by monitoring and working with worklists in the electronic medical records system.
Requirements
• Possess basic computer skills
• Have a solid understanding of medical terminology
• Display excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrate strong customer service abilities
• Be able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Show a high level of attention to detail
•Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service role is a plus
• Possess the ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion
• Be able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Show a willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new systems and procedures
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent education level
• Display a professional and empathetic attitude towards patients.
