Job Description:A Patient Care tech has accountability for providing care topatients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring forpatients with acute and chronic needs
Scope1.Responds to patient care needs by answering call lights, assistingpatients with hygiene care, obtaining vital signs, and communicatingconstructively, effectively and timely with members of the care team.2. Performs 12-lead EKG duties commensurate with the level of trainingreceived and competency.3. Apply, check and document restraints as directed by the RN or physician.4. Performs wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.5. Performs equipment and tube care/management e.g. JP's, hemovacs andnasogastric tubes, and Foley removal.6. Assists with patient transfers, admissions and discharges as directed andin compliance with the principles of safe patient handling.7. Orders and maintains office and patient care floor stock/supplies.8. Performs the duties of unit secretary. Maintains patient charts, respondsto phone calls, maintains daily assignment board, provides equipmentcare/cleaning, performs errands associated with patient care and providesaccurate information about the patient with interdisciplinary team.9. Assist physicians and RN's as directed.10. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health and abides byService Behavior Standards.11. Demonstrates and adheres to the standards of infection prevention.12. Performs other duties as assigned.13. May be required to float to other departments (within scope ofcompetency and qualifications) based on business need.14. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Minimum Qualifications
RequiredSuccessful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training programCertification as a Nursing Assistant (C N A ) in the state of practiceCurrent American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers(BLS-HCP)certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire withprior approval
Preferred
1+ years of previous experience in a health care setting

Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assesspatient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and-Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitorsthat require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understandspoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately,particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands andfingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision andaccuracy.
