　　This is a non-merit temporary position with the Iowa Veterans Home. Only applicants who meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements (listed below) will be placed on the eligible list.

　　The Iowa Veterans Home (IVH) has an exciting new opportunity available for Paramedics.

　　We are now hiring temporary Paramedics to work 15 hours per week. Evening shift (2pm-10:30pm) and night shift (8:15pm-6:15am) available. Will work 1 out of every 3 weekends. This position is not eligible for benefits.

　　The Iowa Veterans Home is a long-term care facility, located in Marshalltown, Iowa, with the mission of providing exceptional resident-centered care and the highest quality of life to Iowa’s Veterans and spouses.

　　Under the direction of the Medical Director and the Administrator of Nursing and within their scope of practice, the Paramedic will provide care to residents and delegate appropriate tasks and direction to Resident Treatment Workers (RTWs).

　　The Paramedic will assist with the direct daily care of the resident by ensuring RTWs are following the prescribed plan of care as outlined by the Registered Nurse and provide effective communication to the covering Registered Nurse.

　　Duties include but limited to:

　　• Prepare 24 report and provide staff assignments to RTWs.

　　• Perform resident assessments, administer medication and licensed treatments as prescribed, initiate IV access and administer IV fluids and IV medications.

　　• Apply skills necessary to determine resident physiologic, psychological and psychosocial needs are met.

　　• Complete all required documentation.

　　* All applicants are subject to a Criminal Background Check, Dependent Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Check

　　Minimum Qualification Requirements

　　any equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of post high school education (thirty semester hours or equivalent academic units) with an emphasis in nursing and/or the social or behavioral sciences for one year of experience to a maximum substitution of one year.
