Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Under direction of the Senior Vice President for Legal Services, the Contracts Paralegal will review and administer third-party contracts and provide legal administrative support to legal services. This position also supports the development and fulfillment of contracts and helps maintain the tracking of contractual obligations.
HOURS: A full time day shift position, working Monday-Friday onsite at Lancaster General Hospital. Can be hybrid after satisfactory completion of training. There is no on-call, holidays or weekends.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
GENERAL TASKS:
Serves as liaison/maintains communication between Legal Services and other LGH departments
Fulfills information and document requests from outside legal counsel.
Assists in maintaining communication between Legal Services and outside counsel.
Track and report all key deadlines.
Assists in legal investigations through drafting and coordinating litigation holds within LGH.
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
Notary services
TRANSACTIONAL:
Research online civil and criminal court docket information, tax records, real estate filings, public records and business entity records from Department of State
Assists with completion of license applications and renewals for governmental and administrative organizations.
Assists with trademark maintenance and filings.
Prepares and files various Department of State documents (e.g. fictitious names, articles of incorporation)
Prepares closing binders for real estate acquisitions
CONTRACTING:
Under supervision of Senior Counsel and Associate Counsel, prepares initial drafts of diverse range of complex agreements and related schedules/exhibits including, but not limited to, license agreements, lease agreements, real estate purchase agreements, service agreements, employment agreements, contract amendments, etc.
Administers Legal Services contract process:
Manage overall workflow;
Implements and maintains a contract assignment tracking system;
Identify clinical contracts and performance standards;
Ensure consistent use of best practice terms and conditions;
Ensure proposed changes receive appropriate review and approval;
Encourage use of standard legal forms;
Draft modifications for approval when modifications to standard forms are required;
Standardize approval, execution, and archiving processes.
Works closely with vice presidents, managing physicians and human resources to process requests for employment contracts and amendments to contracts.
Works closely with Chief Medical Officer and Medical Staff Office to process requests for medical leadership contracts.
Reviews routine contractual questions and works with attorneys as appropriate to resolve questions from outside Legal Services.
GUARDIANSHIP:
Drafts, prepares, and files guardianship documents with Court.
Coordinates guardianship procedures between Court, attorneys, witnesses, and guardians.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree in a related field in an ABA approved program.
Five (5) years of related law firm or in-house corporate experience.
Familiarity with contract documents and terms, with an ability to identify and summarize material terms. Thorough understanding of the life cycle of contracts from development, evaluation, negotiation, to approval, tracking, close-out and day- to-day management.
Experience with preparing and filing legal documents with the court.
Thorough knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Products, Adobe Acrobat, date tracking software and robust document management systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
Strong organizational, attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills with proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Ability to uphold standards of complete discretion and confidentiality.
Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Certified Paralegal.
Experience with Local Rules of Court.
