The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking an experienced Painter. Under general supervision from the Foreman, the selected candidates will apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, to decorate and protect interior/exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and structures throughout the hospital. / / /_Schedule:_/// Full-time, 40 hours per week. The hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Days off areSaturday and Sunday. / / /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_//__/ * Performs all necessary activities to properly apply paint, varnish, stain and other coating/finishes to all types of surfaces, mixes paint, stains, and other materials. * Prepares surfaces to receive coatings, finishes by cleaning, caulking, sanding, priming, and sealing materials. * Arranges sheetrock/blue board for paint by taping seams, or skim coat plaster of new installations. * Repairs and replaces glass and other transparent materials used on windows, doors, skylights and vision panels. * Strips, applies, and repairs wall coatings, including wallpaper, vinyl, and textured materials. * Erects, maintains, and operates staging, rigging and scaffolding following all accepted safety practices. * Operates, maintains, and cleans hand and power tools, air compressors and painting equipment as required. * Applies road and parking lot lines, symbols and lettering; paints curbs, crosswalks and other ground surfaces as needed. * Protects adjacent areas from over spray, spray dust, fumes, dust and vapors by installing and maintaining barriers, ventilation and other control measures. * Maintains paint logs, assist in moving of furniture and ability to load/unload supplies /_Required Qualifications:_//__/ * Knowledge of practices and techniques of painting including the types and uses of paints, stains, varnishes, and other coatings/finishes. * Understanding of tools and equipment used to prepare and finish surfaces using paints, varnishes, stains, wall coverings and textured surfaces. * Familiarity with safety practices, codes and regulations related to erecting, maintaining and utilizing staging, scaffolding and ladders. * Ability to follow and issue written and verbal instructions. /_/Preferred Qualifications:/_/ * Experience as a painter working in a facility and/or hospital setting. * Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. /_Working conditions:_/ * This position assists in lifting and moving furniture and loading/unloading supplies with or without an accommodation. /_About the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital:_/ Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is a fully Joint Commission accredited teaching facility that provides acute, subacute, and ambulatory care to patients referred by public agencies and private sector providers.
