Join Harborview Medical Center for an outstanding leadership opportunity as Nurse Manager, Transitional Care Unit (TCU). Harborview is the only level one adult and pediatric trauma center as well as regional burn center for a four-state region; a teaching and research hospital for the University of Washington; and a public/safety-net hospital for our diverse community. We are a Magnet-designated hospital as recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
The Transitional Care Unit (TCU) was created as a more efficient way in which to care for our long-term patients. We are still actively seeking placement for these patients, however, while they remain in the hospital, they no longer meet acute care inpatient criteria and do not require the same level of care as that patient population. The staffing model in this unit reflects the needs of long-term patients and utilizes different ratios than our standard acute care units.
The Nurse Manager represents the unit staff and provides leadership in the Division of Nursing and the Medical Center as a whole through participation in the decision-making process, support, and development of policies and programs. The Nurse Manager has 24-hour accountability and responsibility for managing the nursing unit to provide safe, efficient and quality patient centered care. The Nurse Manager directs and coordinates all activities of the patient care unit including:* plans, implements, and evaluates unit programs to meet specific patient care needs,* selects and supervises unit staff,* plans and manages the unit budget, and* provides leadership to promote professional practice.
