  Salary Range: Level 3: Step 1: $69,092 Step 7: $98,703

  Supervisor: Lead Network Engineering • Data Network Ops,

  Location: 2 Broadway, New York, NY 10004, and other locations as required

  Hours of Work: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (7.5 hours/day) or as required.

  Deadline: Open until filled

  This position is eligible for telework which is currently two day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

  Job Summary:

  The purpose of this position is to provide seasoned expertise to assure the effective performance of one or more key components of MTA’s integrated LAN/WAN network infrastructure. Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, maintaining, installing and/or deploying various Cisco technology platforms.

  Responsibilities:

  Level 3

  Install, configure, and troubleshoot complex network and LAN/WAN solutions supporting critical business functions and customer facing services.

  Work with other IT technical resources to support all network related technical problems and services.

  Support satellite locations in a timely and effective manner during the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all network related technologies.

  Ensure all required system documentation and record keeping requirements associated with maintaining and controlling IT assets are completed accurately, timely and in accordance with MTA policies and procedures and department requirements.

  Participate in the evaluation of new products and technologies.

  Evaluate connectivity requests and requirements and recommend effective technological solutions.

  Guide less senior technicians and staff in the performance of their tasks.

  Design and engineer solutions and standards to be applied within the section.

  Level 4

  All the responsibilities of Level 3 including the following.

  Install and oversee the configuration and troubleshooting of complex network and LAN/WAN solutions supporting critical business functions and customer facing services.

  Ensure all departmental record keeping requirements associated with maintaining and controlling network assets and call center statistical reporting are completed accurately, timely and in accordance with MTA policies and procedures and department requirements.

  Participate in the evaluation of new connectivity products and technologies.

  Design and engineer solutions and projects to be implemented within the section.

  Contribute to the planning and coordination of tasks associated with network technology related projects.

  Level 5

  All the responsibilities of Level 3-4 including the following.

  Evaluate user requests and requirements and recommend effective CISCO technological solutions.

  Direct the design and engineering of solutions for projects to be implemented within the section.

  Lead the planning and coordination of tasks and activities in support of network related projects and initiatives.

  Qualifications:

  Level 3

  Strong knowledge and familiarity with configuring, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network connectivity equipment including but not limited to switches, routers, and wireless equipment.

  Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN network protocols and use of protocol analysis tools for data packet inspection.

  Ability to troubleshoot and support technical issues both remotely and on-site using standard MTA tools and techniques.

  Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, technical manuals, and documentation such that supported equipment and software can be maintained with minimal training.

  Strong oral and written communications skills.

  Strong analytical skills.

  Strong people skills.

  Ability to provide technical solutions to meet business unit requirements.

  Ability to provide in-depth technical direction to less senior staff members.

  Ability to design and engineer complex solutions incorporating standards and industry best practice to enhance and expand the functionality of the Corporate Data Network incorporating fault tolerance, resiliency, and scalability.

  Must be able to move and lift up to 25 lbs. of equipment such as switches, routers, UPS, laptops, firewalls, etc.

  Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  Level 4

  All the qualifications of Level 3 including the following.

  Advanced knowledge and familiarity with configuring, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network connectivity equipment including but not limited to switches, routers and wireless equipment.

  Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN network protocols and use of protocol analysis tools for data packet inspection.

  Ability to plan activities and provide advanced technical direction to less senior staff members.

  Ability to formulate a plan, define tasks, and coordinate activity required to successfully execute network technology related projects.

  Level 5

  All the qualifications of Level 3-4 including the following.

  Must demonstrate excellent knowledge and familiarity with configuring, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network connectivity equipment including but not limited to switches, routers and wireless equipment.

  Must demonstrate excellent knowledge of LAN/WAN network protocols and use of protocol analysis tools for data packet inspection.

  Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and support technical issues both remotely and on-site using standard MTA tools and techniques.

  Demonstrated ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, technical manuals and documentation such that supported equipment and software can be maintained with minimal training.

  Excellent oral and written communications skills.

  Excellent analytical skills.

  Demonstrated ability to provide technical solutions to meet business unit requirements.

  Demonstrated ability to direct the design and engineering complex solutions incorporating standards and industry best practice to enhance and expand the functionality of the Corporate Data Network incorporating fault tolerance, resiliency and scalability.

  Demonstrated ability to lead formulation of a plan, defining tasks and coordinating activity, required to successfully execute network technology related projects.

  Must demonstrate highly developed knowledge of current industry standard IT technologies and market trends.

  Demonstrated ability to plan, present and apply complex technology solutions to solve critical business requirements effectively and efficiently.

  Proven experience working with senior level staff contributing to both short and long term technology related planning strategies.

  Education and Experience

  Level 3

  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or a minimum of 7 years’ experience installing, maintaining, and supporting network technologies.

  Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining and supporting a complex network environment.

  Level 4

  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or a minimum of 10 years’ experience installing, maintaining, and supporting network technologies.

  Must possess a minimum of 8 years of experience maintaining and supporting a complex network environment.

  Level 5

  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or a minimum of 12 years’ experience installing, maintaining, and supporting network technologies.

  Must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience maintaining and supporting a complex network environment.
