Associate Environmental Specialist: Expected salary range of $73,800 to $82,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Environmental Specialist: Expected salary range of $86,400 to $96,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Senior Environmental Specialist: Expected salary range of $110,700 to $123,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION – ASSOCIATE ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
Responsible for the day-to-day, site level environmental compliance activities. Assures that the highest level of compliance is maintained with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental rules and regulations and that site personnel are aware of all relevant environmental requirements. Responsible for daily environmental activities including but not limited to data collection and preparing compliance reports to the Agencies, supporting regulatory inspections, ensuring permit compliance, and supporting or overseeing environmental testing. Ensures compliance in all environmental programs including air pollution control, water pollution control, waste handling and disposal, spill planning and prevention, storage tank management and emergency planning and release reporting, and wildlife management. Maintains and updates the Environmental Management System (EMS) program (ISO 14001 based). Works with Operations, Maintenance, and other site personnel to promote environmental awareness and implement processes and procedures to ensure site level compliance. Works with Environmental Programs group to review and implement permit and regulatory changes.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION – SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
Responsible for providing technical, regulatory, and programmatic direction on environmental issues for Power. Assures that the highest level of compliance is maintained with all applicable environmental rules and regulations. Responsible for licensing, permitting and completion of specific environmental regulatory filings in one or more environmental programs including, but not limited to, air pollution control, water pollution control, spill planning and prevention, storage tank management, solid and hazardous waste management, and remediation.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES – ASSOCIATE ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
Manage and be responsible for day-to-day environmental compliance for plant level environmental programs including air quality management, waste management, water quality management, spill plans and response, emergency planning and release reporting, tank management, and other applicable environmental requirements
Perform environmental record keeping and reporting including data review and analysis, report preparation, report filing, agency notification, permit application review and input to regulatory comments
Make site employees and management alert to environmental issues; promote environmental awareness, perform environmental training, and support implementation/enhancement of compliance processes and procedures at the plant level; Participate in Environmental Peer Group and implement and share best practices
Perform self-assessments and support corporate audits; lead or support regulatory site inspections
Manage contractors, consultants, and environmental budgets
Maintain Environmental Management System (ISO14001) and perform compliance reviews and improvement activities
Report environmental metrics and corrective action implementation; Maintain environmental compliance tools to ensure accuracy and completeness
Provide environmental compliance support to other Regional and Fleetwide sites as needed

Prepare and submit permit applications, review drafts, prepare comments and negotiate final permits.
Prepare, review and submit agency reports and filings, and respond to agency inquiries. Comment on proposed regulations.
Provide facility advice, develop and implement environmental strategies, prepare and issue regulatory interpretations related to area of subject matter expertise(air, water, waste etc.)
Provide technical and regulatory support and expertise to environmentally related projects and programs to assure compliance with all appropriate environmental regulations.
Participate in EMS ISO 14001 certification, review and improvement activities.
Develop and track site level environmental performance.
Review and update the Management Model related to area of subject matter expertise (air, water, waste, etc.).
Perform all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – ASSOCIATE ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
BS in engineering, natural or physical sciences, chemistry, or environmental science or related program equivalent degree OR
Associates Degree with 1+ years professional experience OR
H.S. Diploma with 2+ years professional experience
Ability to manage multiple tasks and sites with conflicting priorities, and pay attention to detail
Strong analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
BS in engineering, natural or physical sciences, chemistry, or environmental science or related program equivalent degree with 3+ years professional experience
Associates Degree with 4+ years professional experience OR
H.S. Diploma with 5+ years professional experience
Ability to manage multiple tasks and sites with conflicting priorities, and pay attention to detail
Strong analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
BS in engineering or environmental science with 6+ years professional experience OR
Associates Degree with 8+ years professional experience and 3+ years exempt level experience
H.S. Diploma with 10+ years professional experience and 5+ years exempt level experience
In-depth knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements for power plants
Ability to manage multiple issues/priorities with conflicting priorities.
Strong analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal.
Strong computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – ASSOCIATE ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
Knowledge of power generation industry
