Introduction

　　Introduction: The IBM Blue Studio design practice is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Motion Designer who is

　　passionate about animation and illustration as an element of brand experience and design. The professional must have an ability to bring static images to life, an aptitude for and understanding of the power of compelling stories, and a keen eye for a modernist approach in animation design. The right candidate should have conceptual skills in creating innovative motion work aligned to identity systems, and experience working across animation platforms and instance types. Work will include a range of animated and video assets, including large-scale event experiences and assets for online platforms.

　　Your Role and Responsibilities

　　Execute 2D/3D animations across various mediums from conception, design, through execution.

　　Work independently on complex motion projects, as well as lead design teams on larger scale motion efforts.

　　Produce sketches, storyboards, and develop animated sequences and stories.

　　Bring abstract concepts to life, communicating a story with an economical and identity-aligned approach to animation.

　　Maintain a deep understanding of IBM's business strategies and goals.

　　Hold command of IBM brand's vision, systems, and documentation.

　　Help advance animation design at IBM.

　　Mentor and build a supportive community among other animators and motion designers.

　　Contribute to style guides and other design documents relating to animation and motion, as needed.

　　Build toward scaling the motion design practice toward efficiency and effectiveness across the studio.

　　Work with leadership and design team members to establish priority, fidelity and delivery of tasks.

　　Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and detailed design rationale both verbally and visually.

　　Speak and present to range of stakeholders.

　　Ensure quality control and outcomes.

　　This is a Hybrid role, attendance to the office will be required only 3 times peer week.

　　Required Technical and Professional Expertise

　　A passion for well-conceived and crafted animation, and the ability to distinguish good, innovative animation design from bad, careless work.

　　A personal portfolio of animated experiences built across assets, ideally tailored to a brand identity.

　　Knowledge of grids, typography, graphic design, color, layout, iconography, imagery, and design patterns and systems to address ambiguous, complex problems and projects.

　　Demonstrated problem solving skills and idea generation, effectively visualizing and creating concepts into the end products.

　　A history of investigating, innovating, and developing trends in animation and motion with an emphasis on brand experience and design.

　　The ability to embrace feedback and review of work, accept and act upon creative/technical direction, and respond in an agile manner to data/analytics results.

　　Experience in an agile development environment and team.

　　A professional attitude that is passionate, confident, empathetic, positive and approachable.

　　Attention-to-detail, strong organizational skills and time management.

　　Collaboration with others-creative directors, stakeholders, technical teams, partners and other designers.

　　Mentorship for other motion designers

　　Support toward design leadership and creating a team dynamic

　　5+ years of relevant experience in a motion design position.

　　Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

　　BFA or MFA in graphic design (or 5+ years of hands-on digital design experience)

　　Applications: Adobe Creative Suite (highly proficient), AfterEffects, Premiere, Blender, Cinema4D

　　Applications: MS Office (.PPT/Keynote), Github

　　Front-end web technologies (HTML5, CSS, etc.) experience

　　UX familiarity

　　Web standards experience and knowledge

　　Strong animation and motion skills

　　Sketching and storyboarding
