  The Mobile Crisis Intervention Clinician will provide strength-based, family-focused crisis intervention services to youth under the age of 21 experiencing a behavioral health crisis in partnership with an MCI paraprofessional. Crisis intervention is provided as a mobile face-to-face therapeutic response to a youth for the purpose of identifying, assessing, treating and stabilizing the situation and reducing immediate risk of danger to the youth or others consistent with the youth’s risk management/safety plan.

  Responsibilities

  Provide psycho-social assessments to youth and families in crisis situations due to an emotional, behavioral or mental health problem taking into consideration behavior management, risk, family strengths and need, current research findings, the importance of individual and cultural differences that influence child and caregiver.

  Provide crisis intervention services and solution focused treatment to families for up to 7 days until follow-up services can be obtained for youth and their families.

  Function as a member of a community based Youth Mobile Crisis Intervention Team in diagnostic formulation and implementation of stabilization services, short term crisis, immediate treatment techniques, and safety plan development for youth and families.

  Coordinate services of mobile crisis team with community agencies, police, child welfare, juvenile justice, schools, etc. to identify and obtain interagency resources for youth and families in crisis.

  Serve as consultant to and provide liaison services with Case Managers, Intensive Case Coordination (ICC) and other staff in Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) service network.

  Respond to emergency phone calls and provide crisis interventions to help alleviate a mental health crisis and provide information about and help coordinate additional resources for families.

  Implement appropriate interventions that can assist in stabilizing the situation and offer support to the youth and parent/guardian/caregiver in accordance with current professional standards and utilizing wraparound principles.

  Identify all necessary referrals and linkages to medically necessary behavioral health services and supports and facilitate referrals and access to those services.

  Work with youth’s health plan to arrange for disposition to all levels of care, including inpatient and 24-hours services, diversionary, outpatient services and ICC.

  Delivers services that are consultative and collaborative valuing shared decision making.

  Provide consultation to child and family care planning teams and other agencies relative to the evaluation and treatment of youth in crisis and works collaboratively with hospitals, courts, and insurance companies when indicated.

  Maintain annual training in wraparound process, 12-hour crisis prevention course, such as SOLVE, systems of care philosophy, family systems, conflict resolution, risk management, partnering with parents, youth development, and cultural competency.

  Seek and create opportunities to collaborate across programs, internally and externally.

  Liaison to other community providers and related agencies for marketing and relationship building purposes.

  Attend and actively participate in supervision and team meetings.

  Adhere to all principles related to the Advocates Way.

  Ensure that people receiving services and staff are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates Human Rights Policy.

  Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.

  Strictly follow all agency Performance Standards.

  Qualifications

  Master’s Degree in social work or in human services or health care related field.

  Massachusetts independent practice licensure in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology.

  Training and experience in non-violent crisis intervention, solution-focused intervention, family systems and motivational interviewing.

  Working knowledge of CBHI system of care.

  Outstanding customer service skills.

  Exceptional interpersonal skills to facilitate working relationships with referral sources, colleagues, and partner agencies.

  Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations

  Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  Ability to read and speak English.

  Sensitivity to the needs of the population.

  Must adhere to all professional ethics.

  Must have valid driver’s license and access to auto.
