  METALLURGY LAB TECHNICIAN

  Location: Reading, PA

  The Met Lab Technician will . . .

  Prepare samples for analysis/examination and carries out a limited range of basic metallurgical services under direct supervision of the Group Leader.

  Perform mechanical and magnetic tests on standard equipment, such as hardness testing, tension, tensile, resistivity etc. Perform metallographic tests using etchants, polishing equipment and standard metallographic equipment.

  Collect and record test data obtained during the evaluation. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

  This position can be located in any of the following areas: Mechanical Testing, Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetic Testing or Heat Treating.

  Perform other assignments and special projects as needed.

  Requirements for the Met Lab Technician

  Must be available for one of the following shifts: 2nd shift, 3rd shift

  High School Diploma required.

  Entry level position, some lab experience preferred.

  Strong working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

  Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.

  Ability to conduct entry level activities and operate basic metallurgical / lab equipment.

  Willingness to work in a fast paced, production-oriented environment with frequently changing priorities.
