We are looking for friendly, motivated, and enthusiastic individuals to deliver outstanding customer service and provide customers with detailed information regarding wine selections, wine and food pairings, and build relationships with our customers.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
We are looking for someone with top-notch customer service skills to provide customers with detailed advice regarding wine selections and solutions to wine and food pairings, situational wine needs, and encourage customers to try options that may have not yet been under consideration. This is a hands-on position in which you will actively interact with shoppers and solicit inquires for service, assist customers in selecting products, recognize repeat customers, and build relationships with customers. Other key duties include:Recommending wines for in-store tastings and conduct public tastingsResearching customer inquiries (e-mail, phone, written) and keeping up-to-date with current events within the industryCreating specialty signage and marketing efforts established in Central OfficeMaintaining, stocking, inventorying, replenishing, cleaning, and servicing the specialty products sectionProviding training and mentoring to store staff to raise general product knowledge and specialty product initiativesWhen operationally necessary, this position may conduct work more closely associated with standard retail clerk work.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 75 hours/biweeklyWork hours vary between 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday.Salary:The starting salary for this position for new Commonwealth employees is fixed at the minimum salary listed above and is not negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Three years of retail experience in a PLCB liquor store and completion of the PLCB's Advanced level Wine Education; orFour years of wholesale or retail experience in the sale of wine that includes experience in stock handling and inventory control, merchandising, and marketing; orFour years of wholesale or retail marketing, selling, and managing wine inventory and storage in the hospitality, restaurant, or food and beverage industries; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training.
Post Employment Requirement:
Employees who qualify under the second, third or fourth Minimum Experience and Training option must successfully complete the PLCB's Advanced Level Wine Education program within 6 months of employment.
