About Medical Records Technician

  Description

  Robert Half is seeking a Medical Records Technician candidate on a contract hire basis.

  PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Responsible for filing, scanning, abstracting and data extraction of all records in the electronic/paper health records system accordance with the organization’s approved retention procedures.

  Responsible for coordination of all paperwork i.e. labs, etc. from outside facilities.

  Respond to record requests, subpoenas, and other requests within the period of time provided and only supply records in accordance with regulations.

  Maintains health records release of information and request for health records logs.

  Generates invoices as needed for health records copies.

  Request health records from outside providers.

  Responsible for monitoring batch reports.

  Healthicity: Upload/update documents within Healthicity, including but not limited to, policies and procedures, safety data sheets, facility licenses and employment documents.

  Must adhere to the MACT Health Board, Inc. Corporate Code of Conduct.

  Occasional travel is required

  Must complete EHR training.

  Comply with all MACT policy and procedures at all times.

  Other duties as assigned.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  High School diploma or equivalent.

  Minimum one year experience in a medical office; front office, billing office or back office Medical Assistant.

  Must possess excellent computer skills.

  Ability to multi-task while maintaining productivity and efficiency.

  Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record Systems.

  Knowledge of medical terminology to include diagnosis and labs. 7. Basic knowledge of over-the-counter and prescribed medications.

  Knowledge of medical billing intake registration.

  Ability to employ discretion and confidentiality in sensitive areas 10. Must type 45 WPM.

  Current California Driver's license and proof of insurance.

  DESIRED ABILITIES:

  Knowledge of various medical clinic procedures.

  Knowledge of various forms and reports required by the clinic as well as by outside agencies.

  Professionalism addressing the public.

  Ability to use oral and written skills effectively.

  Ability to communicate in a pleasant and positive manner.

  Ability to work both independently and with others and be flexible and responsible.

  Knowledge of intermediate computer skills.

  Basic knowledge of medical emergencies.

  Requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness and good judgment in a sensitive manner.

  Able to enter patient information into the RPMS computer in a manner that preserves patient confidentiality.

  Supervision is specific and the supervisor provides direct instruction on tasks to be performed.

  Work is required in a clinic setting.

  Lifting cartons of files, forms or office supplies may be necessary 50 lbs.

  In-service education on infection control and universal precautions are ongoing.
