Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages for equipment, mechanical systems, and Life Safety systems. Can effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers. Mentor junior Mechanical and/or Life Safety Engineers and depending on size and complexity of scope of work, may be assigned as the Mechanical Engineering or Life Safety Lead for a project. Maintains and promotes a focus on end product whether engineering, fabrication, or construction. Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines. Ensures effective management of change. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control.This role is for you if you have these skills:Knowledgeable in design for Life Safety/Fire Protection; experience applying industry codes and standards, including but not limited to NFPA.Ability to lead and direct others in production of project documents to include Drawings (CAD / BIM), Specifications (editing and checking) and support documents (basis of design). Check work delegated to other engineers and designers on project to ensure scope is documented successfully. Lead construction phase contract administration activities for life safety department on project such as Submittals, RFIs, construction support, etc. Directly performing, or guiding others, in complex engineering calculations.Able to develop and monitor project scopes and schedules for applicable discipline and team of Engineers and Designers. Identifies changes in scope / schedule and their impact, as they occur.Ability to provide coordination of design efforts with other disciplines and client personnel. Main point of contact to clients for life safety department project responsibilities (meetings, conference calls, comment review/responses, etc.). Ensure positive client relationships and client service with a focus on winning new work. Supporting business development activities (pursuit opportunities, fee proposals, change modifications).Experience monitoring and ensuring design work and documents are correct, consistent with applicable codes, logically presented and constructible.Experience in the development of the design basis for Capital Cost Estimates, scheduling, cost control, communications, and management of resources.And if you have these qualifications:BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Degree must be ABET accredited.12+ years, 5+ years in the EPCm industry a plusProfessional Engineer registration in Fire Protection Engineering required, with ability to obtain PE registration
