Overview
The Transportation Manager is responsible for the direction and coordination of resident transportation. Provides on-site supervision to transportation staff at the PACE facility. Under the direction of the Director of Transportation, manages the transportation program to meet the needs of the participants, participant’s family, and the staff of supporting departments such as the Daycenter, Medical Clinic, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.
Responsibilities
Job duties specific to this position:
Responsible for the daily supervision and direction of the drivers for the PACE facility.
Responsible for specific supervision of staff members to include posting and maintenance of work schedules, employee disciplines, performance appraisals, QA oversight, etc.
Ensures appropriate coordination of transportation services for residents by maintaining a regular line of communication with the PACE Day Center Manager.
Required to operate a 24-passenger conversion van with a hydraulic wheelchair lift. Must have the ability and knowledge to act as a substitute drive on short notice for any of the PACE daily routes.
Maintains regular relationships with service providers and communicates any maintenance or service concerns for resolution.
Maintain regular communication with the Transportation Director regarding staff schedules, the need for supervisory intervention and/or requests for additional resources to overcome delays in service.
Conducts evaluations of participant’s residences to assess safety and accessibility before a client is enrolled, or in response to a request of any team member.
Ensures that PACE Drivers are providing services to residents and their families in an acceptable manner.
Regularly interacts with client’s family members who have requests, concerns or complaints. Subsequently makes decisions/acts accordingly to address requests, concerns or complaints from clients and or/family members.
Shares pertinent information regarding specific client care/service issues with the PACE Interdisciplinary Team and the Transportation Director.
Completes the appropriate documents pertaining to any unusual incidents, complaints, or problems encountered on a day-to-day basis.
Maintains confidentiality of resident information in accordance with Resident’s Rights agreement and HIPPA legislation.
Attends and participates in regular PACE morning interdisciplinary meetings.
Attends training and in-services: provides training and in-services to staff to encourage growth and development.
Serves as role model for the department in customer service.
Demonstrates adherence to all compliance policies and procedures. Is responsible for promoting and fostering compliance in the workplace.
Ensures the highest quality of care by performing responsibilities according to the highest professional standards.
Demonstrates knowledge of PACE/D&TC Emergency Preparedness Plan and can verbalize their role during an event.
INDPRO
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree or higher, or a combination of college with supervisory experience. Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in a related field is strongly preferred.
High School Diploma required.
Valid NYS driver’s license.
First aide certified.
Able to lead, guide and motivate others.
Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing.
Dependable worker.
Good interpersonal skills.
Multi-tasking ability and the capability to prioritize and analyze.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Proven critical thinking and decision-making ability.
Proficient in MS Office and able to learn new software rapidly.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
