DUTIES: Partner with the Executive Director on the concept creation and storytelling for new programs for the 3-year innovation calendar that address trends in product forms, textures and color. Work closely with in-house R and D and outside vendors on all aspects on new formula / shade development. Ensure all developmental dates in launch timelines are met. Evaluate all product submissions on a timely basis based on standard quality procedures (Lab/Pilot/1st Production). Communicate desired modifications to the lab or vendor via product submission form. Travel to Estee Lauder or outside vendor labs / manufacturing sites for on-site approvals as needed. Confidence in shade matching required. Maintain weekly status reports and keep Executive Director and Vice President informed of important project details including risks and timing. Work closely with Executive Director in preparation for category reviews, innovation presentations, regional meetings and product turnover presentations. Assist Executive Director on preparation of Product Profiles Coordinate requests for product samples for Marketing, Creative, R+D, Education. Keep an organized system for all benchmark submissions, standards and other related products. Be abreast of new trends in and out of the industry. Research competitive marketplace for new products and trends. Research consumer use, monitor social listening and purchasing habits of products including analysis of merchandising techniques, sales practices, consumer usage habits and consumer needs. Purchase and evaluate competitive products, prepare written assessments, inclusive of preparing a quarterly competitive review to be disseminated and participate in presenting data. Review magazines and social media/websites (blogger/vlogger reviews etc.) to keep abreast of competitive product launches and new technologies. Responsible for orchestrating product evaluations and summarizing feedback for department. Partner with R&D and Legal to create new claim protocols and language for new relevant, new and compelling claims. Partner with marketing, Legal and the regions to create regionally relevant, new and compelling claims, demos and diagrams. Participate in Global Makeup Artist and Diversity Council to identify new product, language, communication opportunities for the brand. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s in Biology or related science and three (3) of experience in a Scientific Development role or related occupation in the Beauty industry. Experience must include working in the Makeup Product Development and in Face category; Developing test plans, managing clinical testing logistics, and analyzing data Research cosmetic competitive market place for new products and trends; Utilizing Power Point, Excel, and Word.
