Columbus House opened its doors in 1982 to provide services for men and women at least 18 years of age. Our goals quickly broadened from the mere provision of food and shelter and simple survival, to understanding and working toward overcoming the problems which cause people to become homeless. Columbus House, along with its core of loyal supporters, friends, and volunteers, has remained committed to fulfilling its mission: "To serve people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, by providing shelter and housing and by fostering their personal growth and independence." Objective Under the direction of the Director of Emergency Services, the Senior Manager of Outreach provides leadership and oversight to the O and E, SIF, Abrahams Tent and LEAD programs providing outreach and diversion services to homeless adults in the Greater New Haven area. This position plays a key role in collaborating with government, local mental health and substance abuse service providers, and housing providers in addition to other agency programs to serve the most complex and service disengaged groups.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree with a minimum of four years experience working in a social service, mental health or substance abuse agency in an administrative or management role
Ability to work with improvement teams and foster teamwork
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong command of MS Office software modules Strong written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered-Planning, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed and Gender Specific Care and Housing First philosophies and models
Experience serving persons with histories of mental health, substance abuse and homelessness
Valid drivers license with a good driving history and daily access to an automobile Preferred

Provides supervision, leadership and direction to all Outreach staff Conducts consumer orientations Leads weekly rounds meetings for both outreach teams
Acts as the Point in Time Count Coordinator
Acts as the Abrahams Tent Coordinator
Acts as the agency point of contact for the Law Enforcement and Diversion initiative
Creates an environment that is both welcoming and provides an enriching experience for all service recipients
Ensures that services are carried out with fidelity to each practice Integrates Outreach services into all aspects of Columbus House programs
Responsible for intake, service and referral coordination for program clientele Monitors program budget and ensure adherence fiscal probity
Other related duties as assigned
Supervised by: Director of Emergency Services
Salary Range: Negotiable based on education and experience plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Monday - Friday 40 hours; 9am-5pm
